Flying Lessons

asdksjaflksj I am so so sorry for the delay ):

"Up."

The broomstick lies absolutely and perfectly still on the grassy lawn, savagely mocking his umpteenth failure (or so he likes to think, anyway - Kitayama insists that broomsticks don't mock people but Fujigaya thinks he knows better).

"Up," he tries, again, slightly firmer this time.

Nothing happens.

Somewhere behind him, he can hear Kawai guffawing with laughter, and in his mind he vows to hunt down and kill the idiot who decided that all Houses should have flying lessons together - all it meant was quadruple the number of people present to watch him fail.

"Up."

The broomstick twitches a little, but rolls to the side.

(Kawai is outright laughing now, rolling on the floor just like his broomstick, and Fujigaya is sorely tempted to whack the Ravenclaw with the broomstick just to get him to shut up.)

Kitayama, standing next to Fujigaya, puts down his broomstick and walks over to Fujigaya.

"You need to say it with more conviction," Kitayama advises, "like this."

He sticks his own hand out over Fujigaya's broom, and at his command the broom instantly jumps up into his outstretched waiting hand.

"Like that," Kitayama says again, handing Fujigaya the broomstick. "It's simple, really, once you get the hang of it."

As Kitayama walks back to his own broomstick, Fujigaya glares at the one in his hand and scowls, dropping it to the floor.

"Up!" he half-barks at it, feeling like a Muggle army commander.

This time, it flies up - and crashes straight into his nose with an audible crack.

Kawai is wheezing now, out of breath from laughing too much. Fujigaya groans, and buries all the little pipe dreams he's entertained about being a Quidditch player.
