Dreaming~
I suppose
dreamweavernyx skipped her turn.
The dream ended suddenly and Tamamori opened his eyes. He didn’t realize he was awake as he kept on chasing the images that were still visible in front of his eyes. He didn’t want the dream to fade away. As always, all the details started disappearing in the recess of his mind and the only vivid memory was that voice and those eyes, the comfortable atmosphere around them.
Every night he managed to get into trouble in his dreams and every night the same person came to rescue him.
Tamamori had realized long ago that his dreams weren’t at all like normal dreams. It was like they were interconnected with other people’s dreams. Sometimes he could interact with them, sometimes he was just a spectator. But he had never met someone who realized he wasn’t just an image made up by the subconscious before he found Miyata.
“You’re like me!”
He remembered that silly, fresh smile on Miyata’s face. A smile that could make him feel at ease, no matter what the situation was. But in Tamamori’s dreams things were starting to become a little dangerous. He didn’t know why, but there was always something chasing after him. He was scared of it and panicked every time he could feel this thing getting closer. He just couldn’t bring himself to look back and see what it was.
One night, the thing was chasing after him again. His body felt heavy, and the undergrowth was tangling among his legs. He fell and felt the heavy presence of the thing behind him. Then someone grabbed his hand and saved him.
“I can’t believe I found another one!”
Miyata was always energetic, no matter what. They never had much time to talk whenever they met in the dream, because that thing was always chasing after them.
“Maybe we should look at it.” Tamamori proposed.
“I feel like everything will be over if we look. We might never be able to wake up.” Miyata said, looking worried.
Not being able to wake up in a world where there was no Miyata didn’t seem a big problem to Tamamori.
“Where do you live outside the dreams?” he asked.
“I don’t have the answer for that.”
“How is that even possible? Come and see me outside the dream. Please, Miyata.”
Miyata never did. The only place were they ever met was the dream, but Miyata wasn’t a dream and Tamamori knew that.
Somehow he felt like they would have all the answers if only they managed to overcome their fears. That's why one night, Tamamori turned around to look at the thing that was chasing them. It was real. It was so real and heavy.
“Run Tama! What are you doing?! Run!” Miyata shouted.
“You should look at it!” Tamamori grabbed Miyata’s hand but the other was shivering and didn’t want to look back.
“Look at it Miyata! Look!” Tamamori cried, “you have to look, if you don’t, you’ll be stuck in this dream forever!”
Miyata opened his eyes.
“It’s... It’s life. It’s my life! Those are fragments of my life!”
“Now I know why you couldn’t meet me,” Tamamori said, “you’re a prisoner of this dream aren’t you? But now you looked at the thing that scared you so much. You can go back. You can wake up.”
“Come and say hello to me, Tama.” Miyata smiled.
“I will!” Tamamori answered while Miyata’s hand was starting to fade away in tiny drops of mist.
