[Team 1] A Matter of Perspective

I've been so addicted to Hogwarts!AUs, so sorry hahaha |D

Stereotypes are not something Tegoshi tries hard to meet, but everyone knows he's the typical Gryffindor anyway.

He's headstrong, reckless (even more so with a Quaffle in his hands), and never seems to stop feeling the thrill of attempting to sneak into the Forbidden Forest after hours. Groundskeeper Taichi has long grown tired of hauling his spider-bitten ass out of the Forest, though, so now Tegoshi staggers back to the castle by himself one nights when Aragog or the centaurs are feeling a touch less welcoming than usual.

He blows up cauldrons in Professor Matsumoto's Potions classes all the time, but has long grown used to the poisonous glares always sent in his direction without fail.

He's your regular run-of-the-mill Gryffindor, and he's proud to be.

Stereotypes are something Masuda doesn't particularly care about.

Everyone always tells him that he' a complete and total Hufflepuff, but he has never believed in judging people's personalities by their House (or any other form of categorisation). His bubbly personality and soft heart are facets of him, and not his House, and he never fails to assist just about anyone he sees, regardless of which House or how old they are.

(This always causes his Quidditch Captain endless grief when Masuda ends up whacking a Bludger at the opposing team and then flies down to apologise, of all things.)

Try as he might, the more he acts kindly the more he's told he's a perfect Hufflepuff boy, but he doesn't care if he is or not.

Stereotypes are something Koyama doesn't like, because he prefers to stand out.

He spends all his time in the library studying Wizarding Literature in the Restricted Section, just because it's so much more interesting than any of Professor Nishikiori's History lessons. Sure, he skips History lessons all the time, but he spends the time studying in the library and still maintains a straight E grade for the subject, so it does no harm to his smartypants Ravenclaw image at all.

He doesn't particularly care for Quidditch, preferring to read quietly in the stands as the crowd goes wild around him, but then again half of his Housemates are studying too, causing the Ravenclaw crowd's cheering to sound way more pathetic than any other House they play against.

"Typical Ravenclaw," he's told, but he doesn't like it. He wants to be known as Koyama Keiichiro, not 'that Ravenclaw dude', but try as he might he can't seem to shake off the lingering stereotype.

~

Stereotypes are something Kato has to conform to, but only because it's an issue of survival.

He never wanted to be a Slytherin, and in fact the Sorting Hat had been deliberating between Ravenclaw and Slytherin before unceremoniously chucking him into the latter, a decision he has rued from the start. Everybody is cold and calculative in Slytherin, and he tried hard to copy them, because the moment he sticks out he'll get bullied back into submission.

He doesn't try out for Quidditch even though he thinks it seems fun, purely because the Slytherin team are composed of people who have bullied him before and he doesn't think he would stay in one piece for long if he tried out for the team. Everyone calls him the 'almost-Slytherin' and he resents it, because only by melding and conforming to the stereotype can he stay safe.

He's not really your everyday Slytherin, but he needs to be. Desperately.

~

Stereotypes don't faze the four of them when it comes down to friendship.

They met on the train, and despite being in different Houses they still remain close. It's not odd to see Koyama sitting with Masuda at the Hufflepuff table, or Kato sleeping in the Gryffindor dorms if he doesn't feel like going back to his own.

People used to raise their eyebrows, but now they're slowly getting used to it, whether they like it or not.

"The power of friendship is more powerful than any spell!" Masuda likes to say, and they all laugh at the cheesy comment.

It's true, though, and it's made them all the happier.
