[team one] the mark of the true
i...you know what, there are no words for this, i'm just sorry.
"Little? I am not little, you're just...a giant," Tegoshi snipes, glaring at the upturned lips of their most recent stowaway. It's not uncommon; the Golden Egoist has had its fair share of misguided youths sneak on deck, hoping for adventure on the high seas, but Tegoshi doesn't have time to encourage other people's whims. Piracy isn't something you can just fall into, you know. It took years of carefully planned mutiny to be the captain of his own ship. It also took the same amount of years to convince everyone that no, he didn't want a signature pirate hat, thanks, and falling below rank would mean having to wear a hat, and what would be the good of having blonde hair then?
At any rate, dealing with stowaways isn't exactly a new thing, but it being a girl this time changed things. Just a little.
"You're getting off at our next stop," Tegoshi informs her as his crew bind her hands, loosely -- he's not completely terrible. He's even letting her have a pass by not tying her to a chair!
The girl blinks at him, peering up at him from her new sitting position, back against the side of the ship. "You're awfully nice for a feared pirate captain."
By all accounts, Tegoshi usually has a smart remark sitting on the tip of his tongue for comments such as those, but he pauses a moment. "Feared? I'm feared?" It's been awhile since he last heard what his reputation was on the mainland as he found it more efficient to do a whirlwind stop of pillaging high quality, expensive items than to simply meander and grab at paltry loot, but he didn't know that he had gained a title.
"You're like the pirate version of 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am', truthfully," the girl says cheerfully, shifting a little so her arms are digging into the scratchy wood of the ship at a slightly more tolerable position. "You know, nary a trace to be seen after you're gone except for a mess and maybe the wailing of an innocent bystander."
Tegoshi ponders this. "Why are they wailing?"
The girl shrugs. "Loss of family heirlooms? Loss of daughter's innocence after you charmed your way in? Though knowing you, I would say the latter."
Heh. Damn right.
Tegoshi studies the girl carefully for a few moments, really getting a good look at her -- the first thing anyone would notice is how freakishly tall she is, legs going on for miles. The next thing he notices, though, is her face -- delicate skin and features, save for the rather prominent nose, but it works for her, framed prettily by her bangs, hair pulled back into a ponytail. It'd be nice to have a girl on deck, he thinks. Slightly dangerous, but nice all the same.
"What's your name?" he asks.
"Junko," she replies, this time with a smile that shows a little more teeth, a smile a little more predatory. And no wonder, really, as Tegoshi merely stares at her, the recognition settling in as he's heard her name more than a few times on his travels. Pirate captain of her own ship, fighting style perhaps a bit more graceful than most of their kind, but with just as much efficiency. Slightly goofy on the outside, but means business when it was time to get down to business. He appreciates that -- so long as she's far away from him and his ship.
Junko laughs as the truth comes to light, but Tegoshi plays it cool, crossing his arms over his chest. "So? What are you doing on my ship, then? If you're trying to take it over, you're not doing a very good job of it."
"If I wanted to I would have already, but I think you know that," Junko replies airily, glancing around the deck before training her eyes on him again and slouching a little. "Honestly? I was bored, saw your ship at port, and got curious. But you know, I thought you'd be a total jerk, but you're pretty okay. Teach your crew to tie rope better, though, jeez," she wriggles a little, the rope around her wrists loosening and falling to the floor, "I freed myself before I even sat down."
Tegoshi thinks he may have just fallen in love for a second.
Junko glances around again, this time out to the water around them, and Tegoshi blinks in surprise as another ship is pulling in fast to their side. As it gets close enough, the crew on the other side drop a plank down on the edge of the ship, other side catching onto Tegoshi's ship with ease. Without a word more, Junko leaps onto the ship's ledge and practically leaps and bounds to the safety and comfort of her own ship, using the plank more as a diving board to vault over rather than a sturdy surface to walk on.
The other ship begins to pull away almost immediately, and Junko waves from where she is as she pulls out the ponytail and dons her signature captain's hat. It's a rather fetching hat, if Tegoshi is honest. "Bye, Captain Yuya!" she calls and waves again, the ocean spray blurring her face a little as the ships begin to veer in separate paths.
Tegoshi's first mate, Koyama, watches next to him, then claps a soothing, comforting hand on his shoulder. "I really do think you should reconsider getting a hat."
nanyakanya's turn! ♥♥
