ayame_hadouken's time was over. Just a reminder: could you please tag the person after you in your post? The new lj mention system seems to work fine to poke people. The order is on the sidebar of the community.
This idea comes from an interview in which Yokoo said he could feel ghosts or something like that. He said that when he felt something wrong in a place he would call someone like Miyata to go with him, so here we are. Warning: somebody in this is obviously dead.
He decided that he wasn’t going to surrender to his fear of ghosts. After all, Miyata was one of the owners of a ghost hunters agency, how could he be so scared of ghosts? Of course having one under his roof was a completely different matter than having to chase ghosts in other someone else’s house.
Miyata sighed and looked at the phone screen. Surely Yokoo was taking his time coming to rescue him, something he never did with actual clients. Miyata switched the light on and crawled under his futon. He knew that the light wouldn’t make any difference to the ghost whatsoever, but somehow seeing the familiar surrounding of his room calmed him down. Once again he cursed himself and his stupid idea of opening the ghost hunters agency. He couldn’t believe he had been the one to propose that to Yokoo, even if he had never actually seen a ghost himself in his whole life.
Yokoo had the power, he could communicate with ghosts, understand them, convince them not to act crazy, but Miyata? He had nothing but the stupid machines he had invented, machines that could only barely grasp the ghost’s presence. Not that it had been difficult to understand he was being haunted. The shelves in the room were empty, the ghost had knocked over the content onto the floor. It had shattered all his plates, it had played with the light, lowered the room temperature and did anything it could to scare Miyata out of his skin.
“I’m not afraid, I’m not afraid,” Miyata whispered to himself several times. “This will be my job from now on. I’ve seen much worse than this before. Since high school, since I’ve met with Yokoo senpai. I was the one to convince him he could use his power for something good! Far worse things have happened to us before...” Miyata’s breath formed a cloud of smoke in the cold air and suddenly the light was switched off. “But why the target is me this time? I don’t think I can bear this.”
Miyata got up just in time before the books that darted in his direction could hit him.
“Miyata! Open up! It’s me.”
Miyata did his best to avoid all the objects that were flying towards him, and ran to the door to let Yokoo in.
“Why did it take you so long?!”
“Sorry, I had to check something before coming here.”
As soon as Yokoo stepped into the room the paranormal activity stopped and the light was back on. Yokoo took a look around, saw the mess the ghost had created and shook his head. Miyata knew that there was nothing that upset him more than when ghosts were creating mess on purpose.
“You’ve been a bad boy Yuta. Care to tell me what’s wrong?” Yokoo said walking inside the room and facing someone that Miyata couldn’t see.
“What?! You know his name?” Miyata exclaimed.
“His name is Tamamori Yuta. He has been around you for a while now.”
“And you never told me!” Miyata was shocked.
“I knew you don’t really like having ghosts around so much, and he knew too, so I kept the secret. But he’s been protecting you from evil forces from long time ago. He’s like your guardian angel.” Yokoo smiled but suddenly he started moving his hands in the air in front of him, trying to stop someone from attacking him. “Sorry Yuta, I’ll never say it again.” He laughed and the ghost stopped. “He’s pouting know. He doesn’t want to admit that he cares about you.”
“Then why suddenly...”
“Shh...” Yokoo placed a finger on Miyata’s mouth and focused on the ghost. “He said he doesn’t want to be ignored anymore.”
“I wasn’t ignoring him, I didn’t even know he was there!”
“Anyway, he said he make a mess to catch your attention. He’s never going to do it again, if you pay attention to him.”
Miyata didn’t know how to feel. Somehow he felt flattered that someone was paying so much attention to him, protecting him even... but on the other hand he knew that he could never communicate with Tamamori Yuta in an effective way.
“I see. I have no choice then. I’ll have to start working on a device that can help me communicate with ghosts.” Miyata sighed.
Yokoo smiled and placed a hand on Miyata’s shoulder. “I’ll help you! I’m sure something like that can help you getting rid of your fear!”
