A Star on earth.

“Beautiful!” a young Hashimoto Ryosuke exclaimed. He had just turned six years old and was growing at a fast pace.

His babysitter Totsuka Shouta, currently aged twelve, looked up at the night sky filled with stars that they were looking at. “Yeah, it's really beautiful.”

Hashimoto's small hands came to grasp at Totsuka's and tugged. Totsuka looked down at Hashimoto's round face and smiled. Hashimoto stared straight into Totsuka's eyes and said, “That's not what I meant! I mean, yes, the stars are beautiful. I think Tottsu is more beautiful though!”

Hashimoto said these words with such conviction, like he was just stating a fact, that Totsuka could not help the grin that spread across his face. Totsuka let his free hand ruffle Hashimoto's mop of black hair. Hashimoto winced and pulled away from Totsuka's hand, glaring up at Totsuka's face. Hashimoto let his hand drop while he moved away to his own space with a smile.

Hashimoto looked up at the sky, his face young and beyond cute, but his eyes seemed so much older than six years old. It was like Hashimoto knew something the rest of the world did not. Totsuka watched the young boy with curiosity. He had been a babysitter for the young boy for a few months, and he could never understand how Hashimoto worked. The boy seemed to just want things to happen, and then they did.

Thinking back, that was how Totsuka became Hashimoto's babysitter in the first place. Hashimoto had run away from his parents one day when his parents had hired a babysitter for him, and Totsuka just happened to be in the park, reading a book on a bench. Hashimoto had come over to him curiously, asked a bunch of questions about his book and then proceeded to tell all about himself. By the time Hashimoto's parents had found them, Hashimoto had settled down next to him with his head resting on Totsuka's arm. The next thing Totsuka knew Hashimoto was squealing about his new friend to his parents, and how he would agree to not run away anymore if Totsuka could be the one to babysit him.

The memory made Totsuka smile. It seemed that Hashimoto always got what he wanted, but he didn't act like he really did anything to get his wishes. It was like a lucky shooting star had fallen down to earth and then chose to stay on earth as Hashimoto Ryosuke. The thought seemed to strangely fit, given Hashimoto's unusual knack for making wishes come true.

Hashimoto turned his big eyes to Totsuka and smiled. “Tottsu is definitely more beautiful than one hundred stars! I know, because I picked you!” Hashimoto's words made little sense, one couldn't ask much from a six year old after all, but Totsuka smiled anyway, taking the compliment.

For better or worse, it seemed to Totsuka that he would remain in Hashimoto's life. Totsuka was fine with it. Totsuka might not have known what made Hashimoto so magical, but he did know that as long as Hashimoto himself wanted him to stay, Totsuka would always remain by his side.
