[Team 1] Leaving Things For You To Find

I have no idea what this is. It's likely never going to happen again either /sobs.

This one's for you, [livejournal.com profile] aprilclash, precious one ♥

"Craziest idea ever," Ueda mutters, turning the television off with a flick of his wrist.

"It's a fine line," Shigeaki murmurs, his voice muffled. There's a red fineliner clenched between his teeth and his eyes haven't left the sheets of paper in his grasp since he picked them up.

"Nope," the other man says, popping the last syllable in irritation, "not genius. Just plain crazy."

"Well, they're not exactly known as a serious group," the writer comments, "and yet here we are. Their national image is a group of dorks and yet the company has agreed to allow them full reign over the music they producd. For one, I'm interested in seeing what sort of stuff they'll come up with."

Ueda's hum of begrudging agreement is suddenly drowned out by the violent clattering of his phone vibrating on the wooden coffee table top. It breaks Shige's attention, the NEWS member sliding a curious glance over at the loud piece of technology.

"It's Ryo."

Ueda grunts as he stands, padding over to the guitar stand by the living room window.

"You're not going to pick up?" It's less a question than a statement, despite the inquiring tone. "He's going to pester you until you do."

Ueda shrugs, sitting down on a plush rug and settling his favorite acoustic in his lap. He starts plucking a few chords just as his phone quietens down.

"Fifteen seconds," Shige predicts, putting his pen and papers down so he can fish his phone out of the satchel slumped on the floor by the coffee table.

"Twenty," Ueda counters.

It was closer to thirty seconds when Shige's phone begins to ring.

"You guys are supposed to pick up at the first ring when I call you," is the first thing they hear Ryo yell. It's not anger or frustration that colours his voice, though; it's excitement, the exhilaration of having just announced that Kanjani8 will now be masters of their own music hyping him up.

"Sorry," Shige replies, not a single bit apologetic, "was busy. Congratulations, by the way."

"You guys saw, then?"

"We couldn't have missed it even if we tried," Ueda answers, yelling from where he sat. "You left reminders everywhere."

Shige laughs. "You might want to tone down the post-it note usage next time."
