Failbot!mod is actually being responsible leader on time.

Good morning, afternoon, evening, dear citizens of Shiritori-land!

I hope you have all been keeping well these last few days, whilst eagerly anticipating the end of the previous round and the release of the upcoming round's line-up~

Well, you shall need to wait no more, for the new line-up is here!

Before we get to the main point, though: a few notes from your friendly Failbot!Mod. (The most important pieces of information have been bolded for convenience.)

Firstly, there was unprecedented number of sign ups this time round! A total of 27 people signed up for this upcoming round - the highest number since I took over the running of this community. Many thanks to all of those who enticed new people to join us, and cookies all round to everyone for signing up~ As I always say: the more the merrier, and with many people, we shall certainly be a very happy bunch of people!

Secondly, because of the record number of people who signed up, a fourth and fifth team will be introduced into this round to keep the teams at a reasonable size. Please pay close attention to which team you're in so that you don't use the wrong team tag. Additionally, if everyone could specify which team they're in, it would make a team leader's job that tiny bit easier; historically, you've all been very good about doing this though so I'm not too worried.

Thirdly, team leaders are being reintroduced starting from this round (27 of you is entirely too many for me to handle by myself) so in addition to knowing which team you're in, please note who your team leader is! They will be demarcated with a little crown next to their name, both in the list below and also in the sidebar. Their role is to make sure each team doesn't start dragging out. If you've passed your three day mark and you haven't posted a skip post, they (or I) will automatically post a skip post and notify the person after you. Of course, it would be much better if you could either post the skip post yourself, or notify your team leader or myself ahead of time if you can't make it.

That's all the general notices; now, to the team line-ups!

Because of the addition of an extra team, each team leader is free to start their team off with whatever word they wish. Once this post goes live, you will have three days to get the ball rolling!

With that, I shall now sign out. I wish you all happy writing!

- Failbot!Mod

First off, welcome to everyone our previous head honcho would have termed "new blood". (Don't worry, we don't bite hard.)

Seeing as there are so many people joining us for the first time in the round, now would be a good chance to reiterate the rules of the shiritori writing game.

As the name implies, the game involves you taking up to the last sentence of the previous person's story as the start of your story.

In the event that you're left with a difficult word or sentence, there are two small allowances that can be accepted.

Firstly, it would be acceptable to add an article in front of the word(s) you're taking as your opening. For example:
Joji's last sentence:- "We've dealt with fences before, but what're we going to do about walls?"
Sheryl's beginning:- The walls were too tall for even Yuto to imagine scaling.

Secondly, it would be acceptable to change the tense of the verb or number of the noun you're taking as your opening. For example:
Pippa's last sentence:- There was nothing Yara could do except watch the walls crumble down.
Mousi's beginning:- Walls crumbled down before their very eyes, and in awe…

What wouldn't be allowed, however, is splitting up a word into two words or joining two words into one. For example:
Kay's last sentence:- He decided he would never have another one night stand.
Kira's beginning:- "One nightstand" was the only item on the list, and he couldn't make heads or tails of it.

This works both ways. If Kay had finished with "one nightstand", "one night stand" would not have been an acceptable beginning.

If the above occurred, or if someone accidently ended their story with a proper noun, then the game would "end". In that case, the next person (person C) would inherit the last sentence of the person who posted before (person A) the person who caused the game to end (person B). This rarely happens, however, because everyone it's not easy leaving words that could be broken up or squished together, or ending with a proper noun.

As stated, the time limit is 72 hours. Everyone is in the habit of LJ-tagging the next person, so - Frank permitting - you should receive an e-mail when the person before you has posted. From there, it's 72 hours (plus leeway time, whilst Failbot!mod and her team are sleeping, etc.) to either post your story, a skip post or let your team leader know that you're skipping. After that, Failbot!mod and her team will step in and will post a skip post on your behalf and notify the next person.

Finally, if you haven't already, please join the community to gain posting access.

That's all from your favourite Faibot!Mod. Happy writing!

are team leaders allowed to add new tags to the community? just curious since i'm not sure there are team four/five tags yet. ☺

Lmao, not easy to end in a proper noun, pffft. Iirc, I did that at least three times, and we instated that rule after I did it the first time. While I was running it. XD;;;

Are we following the order in this post or in the sidebar? Since they're not the same...

[identity profile] yararanger.livejournal.com 2014-09-23 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah you totally did, I remember because it was always me who was after you XD
