[Team Three] When it comes calling
An AU I began back in January but couldn't make it work at the time. ;_; I hope to write it out sometime, but in the meantime this is a snippet because I missed it.
He could have said no. Instead Nakamaru stared, blinked three times, stared some more, and then finally stood aside. Ueda thought he looked cuter than he remembered, and bounded in happily.
“So what brings you here?” Nakamaru asked, shutting the door with a sigh. “I didn’t expect to see you ever again.”
Nakamaru’s place was really clean - not that Ueda would expect any less - and so spacious it seemed strange to Ueda’s eyes. Turning around in a circle to examine every inch, he realised why. There was only one person living in it, and that person was Nakamaru, not himself.
“Did you miss me?” Ueda couldn’t help asking, swivelling around to face his longtime friend. The smile on his face only grew wider as Nakamaru frowned. “I felt something calling me. That’s why I’m back.”
Nakamaru makes a noise between a scoff and a grunt. “Not for long right?” he guessed, correctly, and the corners of Ueda’s lips jumped up.
He shrugged. No point wasting time if he already knew the answer. If there was only one thing months of travelling had taught Ueda after graduation, it was the value of time. “Are you going to show me around?”
