[TEAM TWO] 同じ空の下で
Randomly trying out titles as I was struggling to write for this turn in shiritori then remembered a new Arashi song with the same title, and it kinda spiralled out from there. So. Yeah. I need to learn to write other people OTL

He’s surprised Yuto has even let him stay so long afterwards. What turned out to be a random invitation to come over and ask advice about the online game they were playing with Daiki and Hikaru (no one needed to know they were helping each other out), they didn’t realize how late the time was. Yuto, who was usually a creature with hobbies that he prefers to do alone, refused to let Yamada go home alone at this time of night and, as he can’t drive Yamada home when their car is with Yuto’s dad, insisted he spend the night over.
"Are you sure it's okay...?" Yamada said uncertainly as he watched Yuto move around a mess of DVDs and books scattered on the floor to make way for the futon that he was now unfolding.
"It's okay, Raiya-kun is on a class trip anyway," Yuto said, smiling that crooked smile Yamada has known for a long time. "I could use the company. My thoughts could be a little noisy."
Yamada lay down on the futon, the familiar smell of the Nakajima family's detergent and fabric conditioner an instant comfort. Pillowing his head on his arm, he stared up at the ceiling painted with the bright blue of a summer sky and wispy clouds that reminded him of their first train rides together.
The cloud trail runs in one straight line The boy looking up at the sky
He was so full of youth, he made me remember how innocent I was back then
"Care to share?" Yamada heard a voice say. He turned his head and met Yuto's gaze, a soft smile coming easily to his face.
"Just being old and nostalgic," Yamada replied.
Yuto laughed a little. "You're only 21, you're not old," he lightly scolded him.
Yamada couldn't help but laugh as well. "Yeah," he said, looking up at Yuto's ceiling and remembering long hours of practices and fights, both petty and heavy.
Those days that were filled with big dreams and so many hopes came back to me
Before I knew it, they'd changed the balance within, speaking gently to my heart
"I just can't help but think about how simpler things were before," Yamada said, his words betraying a wistful tone.
Yuto sighs, loud and heavy. Yamada turned his head.
"Is everything alright?" Yamada asked.
Yuto shook his head in reply. Yamada let it slide, the both of them looking up at the sky. Yuto was the type who couldn't sleep with lights on, but since Yamada was here he installed a tiny night light that projected constellations on the ceiling.
"Why the sudden invitation?" Yamada asked. "Not that I mind or anything."
Yuto sighed again. "Nothing... it's just..." he said, trailing off. "I feel so tired."
Yamada didn’t say anything, letting Yuto talk it out.
“Everything is so scary, Yama-chan,” he continued. “I’m not sure if I can do this anymore. Maybe I really am not good enough. ”
You've just got to build the broken dreams back up again
As long as you're unwilling to give up on those feelings, they'll come together
That's right Our wishes will lead to the same future
“Hey,” Yamada said. “That’s not true.”
“I don’t know how you managed to do this, Yama-chan,” Yuto said. “I wish I could be more like you.”
Yamada took a moment. “Hey, remember when you first invited me for a sleepover?”
While we're on this endless journey
Sometimes we think back like this
As we gather up the hopes of the world
All of ones we hold in our palms, let's let them go little by little starting from today
“I was really happy,” Yamada continued when Yuto did not say anything. “Also when Yuto-kun invited me to go home along with him because we rode the same train line home.”
Yamada heard a soft laugh from the direction of Yuto’s sofa bed. “Yeah,” Yuto replied. “You were so cute back then. You reminded me of a lost Raiya-chan.”
“I’m going to take that as a compliment.”
“Of course you should! My brother is the cutest in the world!”
“Yeah before he grew taller than me. What is with your genes, seriously?!”
“We just got lucky with puberty, that’s all. You have that pretty skin and all those muscles, though.”
“...so you were looking?”
“...we share dressing rooms, shut up.”
We're born without knowing anything Searching for something, we begin walking
It might seem like we'd get fed up of carrying so much baggage, but it's surely all necessary
Yamada chuckled under his breath as he sat up, poking Yuto’s arm. “Ne, Yuto-kun~” he said, his tone light.
Yuto sat up as well. “Why are you acting like a clingy girlfriend tonight?” he said, reaching out and pinching Yamada’s cheek.
“The mood called for it?” he said innocently. Yuto reddened and threw a pillow at Yamada’s face, which Yamada caught with a laugh. To his surprise, Yuto went down from his sofa bed and sat down next to Yamada on the futon.
“Scoot over,” he said.
“What are you doing?” Yamada asked, confused. Yuto had retrieved his pillows and was now arranging them on the futon, turning to Yamada and giving him a smile.
“Getting a dose of my happy pill,” he simply said, lying down on the futon he had laid out for Yamada and patting the space next to him. “Come on, join me.”
In the same way, everyone finds something to protect someday
How should we describe the future that's here?
Yamada smiled and lay his head on Yuto’s stomach. Yuto laughed and began playing with Yamada’s hair, the both of them staring up at the painted on blue sky of Yuto’s bedroom and the lights of the captured constellations of Yuto’s nightlight.
If there's one thing I could tell to the me back then
I wouldn't hesitate
Don't forget It's definitely right there
The answer that will lead to your desires, your wishes
“It gets easier,” Yamada said after quite some time.
“Hm?” Yuto said, his hand pausing from combing Yamada’s hair.
“I know everything seems like it would end in a disaster,” Yamada said. “But it’ll be fine. You’ll be fine.”
“I don’t know…” Yuto said uncertainly.
Yamada let out a breath before saying. “You know, that day you asked me if I wanted to go home with you, I was seriously contemplating jumping in front of the next train.”
“What?!” Yuto said, standing up and dislodging Yamada from his place pillowed in Yuto’s stomach.
“I was so tired,” Yamada said. He sat up, his back turned slightly to Yuto as he looked up and gave Yuto a weak smile. “But then you came and smiled and asked me if I was going the same way and if maybe we could go home together after practice? I was too tired to keep up, really, but I forgot about jumping in front of the train. Because you were there.”
Our story will follow a road that goes far into the distance
Everything that colors our surroundings is now precious to us
Right now, our feelings became one
Shall we try chasing after it? That cloud trail
…Let's run!
“Yama-chan…”
Yamada smiled and mock-punched Yuto’s shoulder. “So don’t give up. Remember our dreams? We’re here now, reaching towards them. We can do this.”
Under the same sky
Yuto sniffed and nodded his head. Yamada smiled and lay down on the futon, and Yuto followed a few moments later, wiping at his eyes.
“You remember those constellations?” Yuto said.
They fell asleep an hour later, the sunlight beginning to break at the far horizon from the view of Yuto’s bedroom window, the night light projecting the same constellations seen in the night sky, their breaths mingling in the slow and steady rhythm of peaceful sleep, their shoulders and little fingers touching as the world prepared to greet another day.
While we're on this endless journey

As we gather up the hopes of the world
All of ones we hold in our palms, let's let them go little by little starting from today
