"Shot," Baekhyun commented, squinting downat the corpse of the newest victim, "right in the heart, by the looks of this flesh wound." He whistled as he carefully peeled back the blood-soaked fabric of the victim's shirt from the bullet hole with gloved hands. "Damn, that is one clean shot — dead centre, right into the heart."
"So," Jongdae concluded with pursed lips, "we're looking at a professional then."
"Looks like it," Baekhyun agreed.
Just then, the opening flap of the make-shift tent rustled behind them and they looked round to see who had entered after them. It was Liyin, from the forensics team, a grim expression on her face.
"What do you have for me then, boys?" she asked in a clipped tone, getting straight to the point.
Despite the depressing situation they currently found themselves in, Jongdae couldn't help the way his blood pulsed at the sight of a serious, business-like Liyin. He may have fallen in love with the other aspects of her — her softness and her kindness, the sound of her laughter and the way sunlight turned her auburn hair golden — but this, this was something that had attracted him to her in the first place, was still the one thing that could turn him on without fail.
While he had been lost in his admiration of her, Baekhyun had brought Liyin up to speed on the situation at hand, and he tuned back in just as his partner finished explaining everything. He was greeted with the sight of Liyin's back, crouched down to examine the body, and a knowing — bordering on lecherous — grin on Baekhyun's face.
For the briefest of moments, Jongdae wondered why his fresh-into-college self had thought Byun Baekhyun would be a good person to become best friends with, and how he should torture Baekhyun as payback for that highly inappropriate look on his face right now.
"So," Jongdae concluded with pursed lips, "we're looking at a professional then."
