[Team Three] Impulse
I've been itching to write Takanoo lately because of all the concert reports so I thought this would be a good time to start on a sequel to this fic. If you don't want to read that 37k monstrosity, all you really need to know is that the two of them are dating by the end of it and this is about a year later.
I may scrap this by the time I actually start properly writing a sequel because I don't like it. Honestly, y'all shouldn't let me write romance ever, really. :/
“Squeeze it harder so you can get it to all come out.”
“Wow,” Inoo laughed, “can you make that sound less like you’re directing me in a really bad porno film?”
Takaki coughed while taking a sip of his drink and looked back at his boyfriend. “You’re the one who was complaining because you couldn’t get everything out of that juicebox you bought. I’m just trying to help. You know those are for children, right?”
Inoo made a face at him and sucked the last of the contents of his drink out of the box, making that loud obnoxious suction noise that Takaki remembered all too well from elementary school. Once he was finished, Inoo smirked and crumpled up the tiny juicebox. He tried to smirk like he’d won the conversation, but his victory was marred slightly by not having a trashcan for his empty drink. So he had to awkwardly hold onto it.
Takaki guessed that the two of them would probably be on the shinkansen for another two hours so the lady with the food cart might be back soon to relieve Inoo of his impulse drink purchase if she happened to have a trash bag. They’d been doing a lot of things on impulse lately, Takaki realized. Just earlier that morning, the two of them had discovered they both had the weekend off from work—a rare occurrence lately—so they picked a random destination and bought train tickets.
Inoo had declared that this trip would be their anniversary celebration, although Takaki wasn’t exactly sure this was the right anniversary to celebrate. It had been a whole year since it had all begun, since the two of them had gotten drunk in a hotel room, confessed their secrets to each other, and started their brief friends-with-benefits thing. Takaki thought it might be a better idea to celebrate the day they transitioned to actually dating, but he wasn’t going to turn down an excuse to travel. This was better than Inoo’s original idea of sharing a whole bottle of whiskey again to commemorate the original occasion anyway.
Inoo yawned and stuck the juicebox into the pocket of the seat in front of him. He reached out to clasp Takaki’s hand. He’d always enjoyed the feeling of Inoo’s fingers curled around his. But he noticed the person across the aisle giving them a funny look, so he dumped his jacket he wasn’t wearing in between their seats to hide their hands. He didn’t want anything to ruin his good mood.
“You can take a nap if you want,” Takaki said, knowing how tired Inoo was. “I’ll wake you when we get to our stop.”
Inoo nodded and closed his eyes, shifting to get comfortable in his seat. Takaki probably could take a little nap too, but he wasn’t used to being able to sleep while travelling since he usually drove his car everywhere.
Instead he let his mind wander back to earlier in the morning when they had been scrambling around Inoo’s apartment to pack. He’d just grabbed a few shirts and pants and thrown them into a small little suitcase along with Inoo’s clothes. There was just something nice about packing light and not having to worry with a lot of things to haul around. Since it was a spur of the moment plan anyway, they hadn’t even made reservations for a place to stay at their destination. He relished that sense of freedom since both of their schedules had been so rigidly structured and busy lately.
Once they had finished packing, Inoo had cornered him in the kitchen with a kiss. Takaki certainly didn’t mind being pressed up against the counter, feeling Inoo’s lips against his while his long fingers brushed against his arms. He could tell Inoo was excited about their trip. Between all their work lately, they hadn’t had much time to themselves lately.
By now, Inoo had already fallen asleep and his head rolled to rest on Takaki’s shoulder. He didn’t mind even if the extra weight was a bit uncomfortable. As the train moved steadily onward to their destination, he wondered what memories they would create together on this trip.
Your turn,
su_jin! Good luck~!
