[Team One] Shared realities
wow gj me being late AND writing about two things i know literally nothing about.
i really don't think virtual realities are supposed to work like that but what the heck, who cares ... right?
”You’re going to fail,” Namjoon had said, and then proceeded to send Yoongi every goddamn book he could find about the topic. Yoongi had never recieved that many packages in his life. After the books he’d started sending Yoongi links and videos, and after a day Yoongi had simply turned off his phone.
He’d surely end up failing if instead of working he’d have to spend the day reading Namjoon’s messages.
Yoongi wasn’t sure how long it’d been since then, but he knew he hadn’t left the apartment for days and that he was soon going to run out of food (in fact he already had if energy drinks and water didn’t count as food). He was so close already that he couldn’t bring himself to stop working even long enough to go grab something to eat.
The evening had already turned into night when he put on the gadget he’d pieced together, checked all the wires once more, and clicked the button like he had done so many times before. He was already wondering what else he could try, what he could do differently, what part he could replace with better once when he pushed the button, so used he was to the gadget only making some weird noise or making the world around him look weirdly colored for a while instead of actually working.
This time it did work.
The room around him disappeared, turning into a bigger one, with white walls and piles of something that looked like plastic, or maybe pieces of rock – it was hard to tell since everything was just shades of white and pale grey - lying around.
Yoongi’s attention was instantly drawn into the only thing in the space around him that wasn’t supposed to be there.
He had built the gadget himself, he had designed everything entirely by himself – he had created a virtual reality in his tiny apartment, and when he’d finally found his way into it, he’d done it only to find that there was already someone in there.
A boy, maybe some years younger than Yoongi, was sitting on top of one of the bigger chunks of the white material and staring at Yoongi, not looking at all surprised at his sudden appearance. As Yoongi stared back at him he raised his left hand, giving Yoongi a small wave.
Yoongi opened his mouth, maybe wanting to ask who the boy was, how he’d gotten into his world, or maybe even to greet him, but after days spent in isolation with little rest and food, the only thing his brain could come up with, was,
“What the hell you think you’re doing here?”
elindar, it's finally your turn!
