What most people don't know — won't know, really, because they don't and aren't allowed to see — is that Hakyeon was, in fact, terrified by the prospect of becoming Student Council President. It was one thing to be captain of the school dance team, another thing entirely to be the representative of the entire student body. Back then he had been the eldest of a merry band of dance loving teens and so he had naturally assumed the role of leader; now…
Looking at the stony face of the retiring Student Council President, Hakyeon could not figure out what he would be from now on.
It was as though he had wanted to be Student Council President, either. Sure, he had grumbled about them a lot, quiet whines as he and Taekwoon — co-captain of the dance team (by luck of being the second oldest) and his best friend — made their way home in the evenings; the Student Council, he felt, focused too heavily on the academic side of school and had thrown the arts and sports to the proverbial wolves. He'd even made claims of what he would do if he were elected as President: for starters, distribute funds according actual needs rather than in favour of clubs who might yield the most number of medals and potential future Einsteins, as the stuck-up (now former) President had done.
But those had been suppositions, the ramblings of a mind exhausted by complaints of lack of a good, open space for him to stretch his legs and free his body.
He had never thought that the student body would actually spoil the ballot paper by adding his name, and then winning the election. When the result had been announced, he had been in too much of a state of shock to decline the position.
Thus began the tenure of Cha Hakyeon, accidental Student Council President of Starlight Academy.
