“Dream of me,” Hokuto whispered. Then he was gone, the only proof he’d ever been there the quickly fading tingle in Taiga’s lips and the black feather clutched in Taiga’s shaking hands.
Taiga’s legs were about to give out under him so he sat down heavily on his bed. The feather felt warm, almost as warm as Hokuto’s skin. It was soft too, the texture unlike anything else Taiga had ever touched in his whole life.
Dream. Hokuto had told him to dream, but how was he supposed to sleep now that the other had gone? “I’m not in love,” Taiga told the empty room, but even as the words left his mouth, he knew they were a lie. He’d fallen for Hokuto the very first time he’d laid eyes on the demon and every single meeting since then had roped him in closer.
