I know this was two minutes late but I beg (thankfully) small pet emergency involving a toy poodle and chocolate cake!
"Fantastic," Yoongi says, rolling his eyes as he eyes the pile of papers on the desk. He resents the fact that he's been set detention for telling the teacher he was wrong, because he was goddammit. He also resents the fact that he can't even serve his detention by himself, where he could run words over his tongue as he folded papers, slipped them into envelopes and sealed the flaps. Now he has to be quiet, and he's not looking forward to the excruciating boredom of the next two odd hours.
"Hi," the boy says, "I'm Jimin." He reaches out his hand, and Yoongi eyes it for a moment before he grudgingly lifts his own hand and shakes. Jimin's fingers are warm, and his smile is eager.
"What did you do?" Yoongi asks, the words slipping out before he realizes it, but he is curious. Jimin looks like the perfect eager kid, happy go lucky and overly helpful.
"I took detention for my friend," Jimin says, grinning conspiratorially, and Yoongi seriously can't believe it.
"What?" he says, eyebrows raised. "Why would you do that?" He wonders what kind of friends this kid has, who obviously walk all over him.
"Well it's Taehyung's sister's birthday," Jimin explains, shrugging as he reaches for a stack of papers. "He always gets in trouble, but today he can't be late or his sister will be sad." Yoongi almost rolls his eyes, but he catches himself in time. This Jimin seems too nice to be real, and the sentiment is only supported when Jimin helpfully arranges the papers in little stacks, passing Yoongi a pile of envelopes and even getting him a glass of water while Yoongi watches, stunned slightly speechless.
"Are you for real?" he finally asks, and Jimin looks up from his fifth stuffed envelope, his face slightly confused.
"What do you mean?" he asks, "of course I am." He laughs, then, and the sound is contageous; Yoongi can't help cracking a smile as he reaches for the first paper to fold.
You're not real, he thinks, but I think I could be okay with that.
