[Team Three] Momentaufnahme (Snapshot)
I left the title in German because for me it captures the essence of what I want to say more than the English word. The German means something along the way of "capturing the moment" or a shot made at that moment really. So with this drabble, too, I just wanted to capture a moment. There isn't really a plot.
The day when Snow Man and SixTONES moved into their changing rooms for Johnny’s World was loud and chaotic. The twelve of them had the entire floor to themselves and split the six available changing rooms up among each group.
For Snow Man, the who’s with who was a quick decision. They chose their rooms according to their usual split - Miyadate and Watanabe got the room the first room, followed by Fukazawa and Iwamoto in the middle one and finally Abe and Sakuma in the last one, closest to the stairs and elevator. SixTONES took a while to figure things out but settled into their own after a janken deathmatch as well.
Shintaro stuck his head into Abe’s and Sakuma’s room only to find Abe inside with his laptop open on the make-up table, probably doing school work. There was a person sleeping on Sakuma’s side of the room but it wasn’t Sakuma.
“Is Sakuma-kun around, Abe-chan?”
“Ah, Sakuma? He’s probably with Hikaru somewhere downstairs in the rehearsal space. They’re doing more basketball practice. Otherwise, they might be on the stage, figuring out distances and spaces for acrobatics and stuff,” Abe replied with a smile and pushed his glasses up. “He has his phone with him, so you could just call or message him?”
“I see.” Shintaro nodded and then looked at the lump lying on Sakuma’s makeshift futon. “And that is…?”
Chuckling softly, Abe replied, “Sakuma’s pet puppy.” He poked the lump and it rolled over, revealing Hirano’s sleeping face. The younger male let out a soft snore.
“Snow Man has a couple of pets. I’m sure you’ll meet the others sometime.” Abe laughed.
Raising an eyebrow and nodding, Shintaro left the room again. He was used to weird things. He’d been in Johnny’s for most of his life after all.
Glancing into Iwamoto’s and Fukazawa’s room, he found it empty. Iwamoto was out, as Abe had said and Fukazawa was probably in Kawai’s changing room on the other floor. Miyadate’s and Watanabe’s room was exceptionally neat - Yugo would be jealous - and Shintaro could see Miyadate eating with Watanabe dozing while leaning against the other. So peaceful.
Unwilling to wait for the elevator, Shintaro jogged down a few flights of stairs to the rehearsal space. Before he reached it, he could already hear the sound of a ball hitting the floor and then a basket or board repeatedly along with voices shouting and talking or cursing.
He blinked when he heard three voices instead of just two.
Just when Shintaro was walking into the room, he felt something hard connect with his head rather painfully, followed by an “oh my god I am so sorry, Shin-chan!”.
A moment later, the grinning face of Juri appeared in his vision. “You sure have good timing, Shin. Everything okay?”
“I...what...uh...yeah?” Shintaro blinked.
“Oh shit, I am so sorry!” Sakuma apologized again and then pressed something cool against the side of Shintaro’s head. “Use that for now? I can get more ice later.”
Shintaro let the other press the ice-pack against his head. Looking down he blinked. “You’re covered in bruises, Sakuma-kun. Will you be okay?”
Sakuma grinned. “No worries. Date-sama has magic concealer.”
“Uhm, okay then.” Shintaro nodded.
“What did you come down here for, Shin-chan?” Juri asked. “Did you want to practice? We’re not due for rehearsals until later. They’re doing the little ones first since they need to leave.”
Shintaro looked at his group mate. “Ah, actually I was looking for Sakuma-kun.”
“Me?” Sakuma blinked. “What’s up?”
“Just wondering if you wanted to hang out and have dinner after this?” Shintaro smiled. “You said you’d take me out again, right?”
Smiling, Sakuma nodded. “That I did. Well, if you don’t mind if these guys come along? I promised Hikaru dinner because he’s been helping me so much and well Juri helped, too and gave me advice, so I’m taking him out as well, since Hikaru doesn’t mind.”
“Sure.” Shintaro smiled. “The more the merrier? I don’t mind if gym boss Iwamoto comes along.”
Iwamoto snorted. “You make me sound like one of the guys in Pokemon.”
“Alright, I’ll stick to Master Iwamoto then.” Shintaro did a mock bow. “Teach me the ways of the muscle, Master Iwamoto!”
They laughed and shoved at each other a bit until one of the dance teachers came down and told them to vacate the area so they could start rehearsals with the younger juniors. Sakuma put the ball away and the four made their way back upstairs.
