[Team Four] The things you learn.

At last, I return to Shiritori-land! I didn’t know it was my turn until like an hour and a half ago, so I’m sorry this is so late. I just threw something together, but I think it turned out cute. I’ve been super into watching the Super Sentai versions of the Power Ranger shows that I watched when I was younger. I totally like Magiranger more than Mystic Force….the story line makes so much more sense in Japanese xD

Title: The things you learn.

Fandom: Super Sentai Magiranger

Rating: PG

Pair: Kai/Houka sibling love.

Summary: Based right after the episode where Kai and Houka change places. The two sibling reflect on what they learned that day.

Winning, Kai always thought that was the most important thing. He never really looked around himself before he had that switch with Houka nee-chan. Yamazaki-san had showed him just how much he didn’t notice, how much he lived in his own world.

He was pulled out of his thoughts by Houka nee-chan wrapping her arms around him. “Still thinking about the lesson you learned from Yamazaki-san?” She asked him in a quiet voice. It was a bit unusual for the ever flighty Houka, but after the day they had, wasn’t all that shocking. Kai nodded his head. The two of them had switched places, and it had been an eye opening experience for both of them.

The rest of the siblings were doing their own things about the house, not paying much attention to the two of them. It was a rare time of quiet, and both of them were grateful for it. They remained silent for a few moments, just enjoying one another’s company.

Finally, Houka moved so she was sitting next to him at the table in the magic room. Kai watched his sister grab some fruit to eat with a small smile. “So, how do you feel about your dating schedule?”

Houka looked thoughtful for a moment. Kai, while being her, had broken up with all of her boyfriends. At the time that she found out, she had been angry, but Kai’s reasoning of that ‘not being love’ had gotten through to her. “I’m not sure. I had a lot of fun with all of them, but I wasn’t really in love with any of them. I thought I knew so much about love, but my younger brother proved me completely wrong. I think, I want to try falling in love for real.”

Kai nodded, he had expected as much. The thought of the flirty Houka finally settling down was a bit different, but he welcomed the thought. The whole family had matured a lot in the last few months. He supposed that they all had to, what with the loss of their mother. That thought still set his blood on fire.

“I guess we both learned something valuable today.” Kai let out a smile, he made a mental note to have more fun and lean more on his teammates, not just in soccer, but in magiranger as well.

Houka grinned back at him, her usual bright smile. “Yep, now we just need to have the courage to follow through with what we learned.” Kai blinked, he hadn’t really thought about it that way before. He had always assumed that once you learned a life lesson you automatically followed through with it.

“Well, our family has nothing to worry about there. After all, our courage is infinite!”

LOL I couldn't resist! You're the one who has Mousi watching Kyoryuger, right? (I haven't gotten to that one yet, been trying to watch the ones I watched as Power Rangers first xD) I wish I could have done more, but didn't have the time xD (OMG Magiranger makes soooooo much more sense than Mystic Force, I was soooo happy) One of these days I'm going to write Hikaru and Urara having a kid, I can totally see Hikaru panicking about the baby coming and her being all "It's fine, relax, I'm ok." XD

MagiRanger is probably one of my favorites. Though GekiRangers was fun too, and had Araki and Manpei in it. xD Jan-speak cracked me up so much. I'm watching DekaRanger next, I did this ALLLLL out of order (Goseinger, Shikenger, half of Gokaiger, Magiranger, GekiRanger, Boukenger.) xD I'll watch it all eventually!

Mystic Force was.......weird? Like I understood what they were trying to do, but like they didn't consider a few things. (like the only one that was the child of "wolzard/Koragg" was the red ranger Nick....but Nick was Latino....while both parents were like Irish white. For a kid not a huge thing, but I was confused XD

I watched Power Rangers from Mighty Morphin to about RPM, though I didn't really watch all of Mystic Force, Overdrive, or RPM xD I caught episodes. The last one I really watched all of was SPD. I was 2 when the show started, and had nightmares and they helped....so the show has like sentimental value, but I'm also really really easy to entertain xD xD

Totally, I don't have ANYONE to talk about Sentai with, and I love it. My twitter is eri_chan08 ^^ I think at one point I followed you on Twitter, then I fell off the face of Twitter and didn't follow as many people, now I'm back xD

Night and Mare were like my secret real favorite characters xD I loved them so much, they were so fun and I loved their song haha.

personally:

01. Dekaranger (Aired: 2004 - 2005)
I really liked this one! The individual stories were cool and I liked all of the people on the team and their interactions. The aliens on earth theme was pretty much up my alley XD They also had their 10 year anniversary special recently and omg *major fangirling*

02. Magiranger (Aired: 2005 - 2006)
Really enjoyed this one, too and the fact that they were all a family was pretty cool in my opinion! Also enjoyed the villains in this one quite a lot as mentioned! Like Night and Mare and then later the deities.

03. Boukenger (Aired: 2006 - 2007)
This was a fun season and their megazord still has the best attack ever in the entire universe (Adventure Double Screw lol to throw in another bad sentai quote here "what powerful penetration"). What I thought was interesting was the set-up of several different groups of villains instead of having just one major group of villains. So there was quite a bit of variety.

04. Gekiranger (Aired: 2007 - 2008)
Definitely huge plus for Arayan and Manpei (and Shinpei for one episode lol) being in this and lol yeah Jan's onomatopoeia speech XD I also really liked Mele, I think she's one of my favourite female characters :3 I was happy to see her again recently in the Toei Hero Next 4 Movie.

05. Go-Onger (Aired: 2008 - 2009)
Go-Onger was okay but I'm not as into it. The story was enjoyable and the characters were okay but something was lacking in my opinion? Can't really place my finger on what, though. Maybe the characters didn't get a lot of depth? If that's the right word...

06. Shinkenger (Aired: 2009 - 2010)
Really loved this one again. The theme was cool - and different from what we got before in my opinion. Very solid story and good flow. Again, no character I wanted to desperately boot off the set. The plot-twist was pretty cool as well, so kudos to the writers.

07. Goseiger (Aired: 2010 - 2011)
I dragged myself through this one. It pretty much moves in circles... but maybe that's just me...

08. Gokaiger (Aired: 2011 - 2012)
Captain Fucking Marvelous.

09. Go-Busters (Aired: 2012 - 2013)
Really into this one right now because I just finished watching it. I started before but never got around to actually finishing it. This one has a really good story, great characters and I really enjoy the costumes in this one. It's not the typical spandex getup but all leather and awesome.

10. Kyoryuger (Aired: 2013 - 2014)
I love this one. Even though the samba dancing was a little wtf at first XD

11. ToQger (Aired: 2014 - 2015)
I started this one and I'm not sure how I feel about it... the characters didn't really grow on me but maybe they will if I give it another try? Who knows ._. It's giving me Goseiger vibes though so that's probably not so good.

12. Ninninger (Currently Airing: 2015 - 2016)
I watched the first 1-2 episodes of this when it started airing I think and it seemed good. Will tackle it once it finishes airing in the near future! The premise was interesting at least and a few people are returning here (e.g. Baba Ryoma from Go-Busters and also Ozu Tsukasa/MagiYellow!! XD)

13: Zyuohger (Coming Soon: 2016 - 2017)
... this looks interesting for now... will check it out once it starts airing soon.

LOL yeah, I knew what your name was (I actually just went through Mousi's profile to find you xD)

I liked Goseiger, but I feel like it had that campy feel that the original Mighty Morphin had, so I feel like it was a lot of nostalgia at work. Also, the fact that the pink's name is the same as my nickname xD

I saw that DekaRanger had the ten years later thing, (I am dling it xD) Not sure how I feel about it not being fulling cannon though.

Boukengers is what I'm currently watching, I'm on the VS Sentai episode, so almost at the end xD I love Dboys actors, so of course I fell in love with Souta xD

I've got all of these downloading (I saw the first episode of ninninger and it looks cute, so I'll watch it haha) Thank Goodness I got a 5 terabyte external xD I'm also working through Kamen Rider too xD

The only one I'm not sure about is Go-busters, and that is entirely because I don't know about Tsubasa's actor playing someone new xD In other words, I'll get over it and watch it.

I just felt that Goseiger was moving in circles a lot... and it got a bit tiring.

I thought the special was pretty canon though? What isn't canon about it?

Souta!! I loved episode 38 XD (which is the one with Miyu the cat)

I am so much pickier when it comes to Kamen Rider series than when it comes to sentai... ^^; I have watched a lot of them as well but I'm "meh" about more in comparison...

Go-Busters is really good, though! I really really enjoyed it. And hey, Tsubasa is making a comeback in ninnger for one episode XDD he's also in one of the team-up specials

I agree it was a lot of circles. I just liked that the red ranger was the flighty cute one for once. Like normally red is different xD I mean, Goseiger isn't my favorite at all, but I would watch it again in a few years sort of thing.

I mean that there is no mention of any of the mashups or the legend war. Like it's mostly cannon, but I feel like that being left out screws with the continuity for me xD

I loved that episode too! Though I admit, other girls getting close to Masashi (Souta) does make me a little jealous xD

I've only seen Kiva before, but thanks to Shikenger I want to watch Drive xD You can't steal from one show, tell me it's continued in the other show, and expect me not to watch it! Kiva is entirely because of Koji Seto, he's what got me interested because he is one of my favorites.

lol I'll watch it! Though Tsubasa's actor for some odd reason bothered me with how he talks. Like he's not a bad actor persay....but something about his speech bothers me? He was like my favorite too, so it's weird xD
I know he's in the mash ups. It makes me happy.

I normally love the VS more than the series almost and I've been that way with Power Rangers too. I don't really know why though. haha

what also ties me to the sentai stuff more than to riders is the fact that I used to live in New Zealand and recognize places where they filmed stuff every so often XD you can almost see my old house in the opening of MagiRanger ahahaha

lol yeah, I think it's normal to have some you like more than others. I was in Japan when I saw pieces of Toqger, but I only saw a little bit outside of an anime shop. All I knew was that Red was cute xD I saw a tiny bit of Giam too, and it looks interesting.

Its super nice to have someone else who is into Sentai xD For a long time the series of Super Sentai and Power Rangers was like my guilty pleasure. Probably because it's regarded as a "kids show" so I feel a little self conscious about it. But I love it, and I don't intend to stop watching it.

yeah it's been a super guilty pleasure for me, too but after getting to know a few people in Japan it's become more than just a kids show XD although well the kids do love it!

Yeah, I felt less guilty when I was in Japan. Actually, I think the reason I'm protective of Goseiger is because I used that to get along with two of the little boys I lived with. They were SOOOO excited that I would watch it with them. It was a lot of fun. I like how the kids are excited and love the show too.

Totally nice to have someone else to spazz with xD Specially since I'm still most comfortable in English. I can talk a bit in Japanese about it, but not as much as I want to haha. I have a long way to go with the language still.

D-boys are amazing. I loved the pieces of Tenimyu I saw....I wish I could watch the plays...but I haven't found them anywhere. Which autographs did you get? haha My room is in total chaos right now, I cleaned my closet that I hadn't cleaned since 2007 and now my room is just destroyed. I've got way too much stuff haha.

Aah yeah the kids I spent a lot of time with were into Kyoryuger XD also some of my friends recommended it to me so I started watching it. I actually saw the movie first because I had been watching Kamen Rider Wizard at that time and then it got me interested XD;

Then I had a blank for a while because RL was stressful but I recently fell back into the rabbit hole lalala XD

uhm... I have all of the 1st Generation Seigaku cast and all of the 2nd Generation Seigaku cast... I think XD; it's been forever, I got these in like 2004/2005 they had a special thing going on when they switched from the 1st to the 2nd cast :)

Your lucky ^^ My Japanese skills have dulled a bit since I've been out of Japan for a year. I was there from April to August of 2014 for college. I went for two and a half weeks in 2012 though. I'm hoping to go back to Japan sometime this summer. Though once again, I'll probably be on Kyuushu xD I'm hoping around Fukuoka or Saga. Depends on if I get into AEON or not.

lol is Wizard any good? I have Kyoryuger downloading, so I'll watch it eventually xD First I'm going to watch Dekaranger though xD Then probably Go-onger. So I'll be caught up there at least xD

RL causes issues, believe me I know. I fall into the rabbit hole a lot. Repeatedly, and I fall hard xD It's like the JE rabbit hole, I fall into that one a lot too. And the anime one.....I fall into a lot of holes xD

XD (on a random note I liked the Go-Onger Taisen movies a lot better than the actual series... they had one with Gekiranger and one with Shinkenger. the Shinkenger one has a great ending song XD which is basically the Go-Onger rap mixed with the Shinkenger song... and the Shinkenger song is pretty bad ass... also super hard to do at karaoke omg XD)

I saw... everything up to around generation 4? I think... god I can't keep track. the shows were pretty fun! (it's embarrassing but you can hear me laugh on one of the DVDs orz.... *sat close to the cameras*)
Seto was super fun Kikumaru!!! I remember seeing him as Kikumaru-senpai the first time and he was an adorable cute ball of fluff ;3; ♥ lol yeah Tomo as Kaidou was.... entertaining XD

Well, I applied for JET but didn't get in. So I'm applying to other companies too, because I really want to go back to Japan. I'm nervous about the essay though, since my confidence has been a bit shattered thanks to not making it into JET.

2010 isn't THAT long ago. Haha that was my first year of college. (~~Is kinda a baby~~ well, compared to Mousi and Midori, I am at least)

I went to college in Saga for half a year, so that is why I'm going to that area. I have a lot of friends and friends that are like family in that area. So I want to try and return to that area if I can.

I'll need to get Wizard then xD I saw the Go-onger/Shinkenger one and I was soooo happy. That was the whole reason I downloaded the series...that and the vehicles TALK (and they didn't in the English Version.)
LOL If we are both in Japan and somehow magically can meet up we should do a Sentai Karaoke session XD I loved the Shinkenger song, though I think MagiRanger's end theme is my favorite.

Kikumaru was my favorite in the anime and manga, so Koji playing the part made me soooo happy. Tomo is such a fluffball in reality....even more so in 2006, so like I can't imagine it! Kinda cool that you can be heard on the DVD though haha.

From what I understand it's even harder to get into JET from the NY one, which, I'm from upstate NY so I went through there. lol maybe you can help me with some tips or something? *looks at with big giant puppy eyes* Well, with AEON's salary, I imagine it would be a bit competitive. I'm hoping I can make it though.

I'm 24, going to be 25 next month on the 8th. 91 line~ So maybe we are close in age. I'm not small, and it bother me. I'm about 169cm, and I always feel like I'm too tall. But I can't really control my height xD

Bomper is so amusing from what I've seen xD I'm hoping I'll like Go-onger honestly haha. I'm really really easy to amuse, so I probably will though haha.

lol well even if I get into AEON, I don't know where I'll end up living. So maybe I'll live not so far away. But either way we should plan to meet up. If all goes well, I'll be back in Japan starting in August. Since I want to raise some money first. I've got 3.5k saved right now, but I would like 4.5k or more ideally.

Yeah, I've noticed I like the music from Kamen Rider more than Sentai haha, but again I'm biased towards Koji, so naturally I loved TetraFang xD

Kikumaru is so bouncy and cute. I'm always more drawn to guys like that, no matter what I do xD Either the smart ones or the cute ones will get me. ALWAYS. lol I agree with the Hitachiin twins, that was the best. I think it's funny that Yudai was Hunni. LOL He was so happy and adorable in Goseiger so I think it fits. Though the CGI thing was weird....

I think Sadako 3D was big, wasn't it? That had like three movies. Also he's been in a bunch of dramas and some movies this last year too, like Gassoh. Though I'm really hoping D-Date will come out with new music xD

saving money definitely is a good idea! but if you're planning to live in Saga or down in Kyushuu it shouldn't be as expensive as in the super big cities. :3

uuuugh I wish he'd do stuff with TetraFang again. Kiva had the best music, hands down! (other favourites are W-B-X from Kamen Rider W and Ranbou Escalation from Gaim)

I know I'm not super tall, but I still feel like I am. My ideal is 164cm, so I'm still too tall xD (The males in my family are a minimum of 184cm so I didn't have much luck going for me to not be tall.) My sister is 165cm, so I guess I feel jealous haha.

Yeah, I remember looking at apartment in Fukuoka before, and most of them weren't bad at all. So I feel like I'll be ok. Though I still want to save. I've got college loans too. (Because the USA is EVIL with those)

lol Sakuma really is similar. My favorite for Snowman is currently Sakuma, but Nabesho keeps trying to worm his way there and I'm just like "NOOO!" Iwamoto is a close second at times though haha. My favorite in all of JE is probably KitaMitsu, with Massu not too far behind.

Hmmm I guess it depends on what your definition of Major is. Though Gassoh was on the big screen and he was second lead.

Yes, D-Date is still active! At least according to twitter and their main site. But Araki had a solo album, so the group didn't have many activities since he's on tour. Though Igarashi left, they still are a group of four.

have you ever taught before? it's not a prerequisite but experience definitely helps! at least that's how I've seen things so far (I have a teaching certificate)

yeergh... I paid back my loan already but it was nothing compared to the US. I remember going to an American University for 1 semester and the 4 months cost me more than my entire tuition for both BSc and MSc over here... (that's almost 5 years of university)... I always hear horror stories from my family in the US X_X

NabeSho and Iwamoto are good choices, too XDD I love all of the snowmen a whole lot. Mitsu used to be my favourite for a long time but unfortunately the other chibi took his place XD

I student taught while I was in Japan, so I have about 50 hours of teaching experience from that. I wish I could say I have more experience, but honestly, I just have a desire to teach. All my aptitude tests come back with teacher as the top choice. Particularly elementary. I want to get a teaching certificate, but where I live makes it hard, and I'm not sure which program would be best.

I've got 40k and growing right now. With interest rates of 6.8, so I'm in trouble...big time. lol I'm planning to finish Boukenger today xD But I have to finish exchange fic too....

hm if you want to specialize in young learners there's the CELTYL? (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Young Learners) but if you have teaching experience already then I don't think it's absolutely necessary :3

Well I want the TEFL certification someday, but it costs almost 1000 to get it, and I don't have that money at the moment. But I might look into it again. I'm planning to apply next month, since I want to leave 6 months out.

I have favorites in JE, but I keep tabs on several groups. Like NEWS, Snowman, Kisumai, and Jwest. Though I'll listen to others too.
