“Eat,” Hakyeon commanded in a soft voice, the gentle, coercive tone belying the steel behind his word. “You need sustenance. There will be time yet for beating yourself up.”

But Taekwoon wasn’t hungry — he hasn’t been since he woke up from cold, black unconsciousness. That had been more than a day ago.

(He supposed it should be a small mercy that it had been Hakyeon’s blessedly familiar voice that he had awoken to, but the memories… Oh, the memories…)

He felt the bed dip beside him, and his leg - once so strong, so sturdy, now soft like the jelly on the food tray he couldn’t bear to look at — rolled as the mattress gave beneath Hakyeon’s weight.

“Taekwoon,” Hakyeon began, and now his voice is taking on an almost desperate quality he hated hearing. (Taekwoon didn’t want to be a burden on their leader — he refused to.) “Taekwoon, not everything is lost, you know?”

Taekwoon hissed at that. “How could you say that, Hakyeon? You weren’t there!”
