[Mod Post] Reshuffle and Poll

Hi, Shiritoreers! So it's finally spring here and we are probably due for a team shuffle, to the extent that any of you want to do that, lol. It usually takes us a couple weeks to sort this out anyway, so keep taking your turns as usual, but meanwhile comment here if you intend to keep playing, if you are/still want to be a team captain, if you want to join, etc. Feel free to link and send new people to this post!

also put in your comment if you have any special requests about which team, want to be on the same team as someone else, need a particular person to poke you, prefer Twitter or LJ pm or whatever, you know, whatever. If you aren't comfortable posting your request publicly, you can either DM me on twitter or email me at gmail (mousapelli) both places. If you would prefer to stay with your current captain, mention that too, it's totally fine. Honestly if your whole team wants to stay as is, greato, it's not like i'm mixing things up just to cause a drama.

I'm going to change the Sonic rules just slightly: anybody can post to Shiritori Sonic, so you don't have to sign up. But if you are interested in being a restarter, somebody who throws down a new Sonic starter when they notice it's gone dead, put that in your comment. I think having at least 3-4 of those would be good, and none of them should be me.

I also want to ask what you guys want to do about staying on LJ, in case some of you were deleting or thinking about quitting for that reason. To be real, I'm not deleting my own LJ, but I'm not opposed to finding out what you guys think or plan to do. I'll be backing up the comm to DW regardless anyway, in case you are worried about it being deleted suddenly. The way I see it there are several options:

1. Stay on LJ, nothing changes. This is my personal preference because I'm LJ permanent and am not going anywhere.
2. Move to DW entirely. I'm not opposed to this since it would work the same. After backing up the comm, we'd just start posting over there instead. I have no intention of deleting the LJ comm either way, I'd just let it sit here.
3. If people's feelings are strong and evenly split, some could stay on LJ and keep going, and some could make new teams on the DW comm instead, starting from the backup. The two comms would diverge at that point and be two different comms.

If we did #3, just to say, we'd need a new mod to take over on DW. There's no earthly way I can mod two separate comms when I'm barely managing this one.

Ok! this has only been up a couple hours but seems like so far we're leaning towards staying here (which, honestly, is what I'm rooting for). But in case of some sort of emergency, it's not the worst idea to have a backup on DW anyway.

I'll let you know what happens but I'm semi-confident that a few people will be willing to restart Sonic. Midori and I used to do it routinely, but I've been too busy for one more thing this spring.

You would be my hero if you wanted to help out with reshuffle stuff, because honestly Ansa has done 95% of that in the past, and my 5% has been me saying "yes that looks fine, Ansa." I know she had a couple people besides me shared on the googledoc with the spreadsheet, do you happen to be one of those people? Or do I need to share it with you?

She hasn't shared the doc with me, but i guess I can still help with something ^^

In terms of organization, what are your feelings regarding ao3? There's been some interest, so if a pilot happens, it might be really helpful to brainstorm some ideas.

Hello~ I'm still here as long as we stay on lj! Also, if possible, I'd like to stay on Mousi's team just because I'm not interested in following new people on twitter these days. Mousi is the easiest to contact if I have any problems.

I'm cool with being a sonic restarter! Now that things are settling after my job switch, i should have time to participate in sonic more to keep it going ^_^

it is very tentatively looking like most people still prefer to stay on LJ! also to be real I am likely to use my mod privilege to not jack up my team(s) very much because I like them the way they are ....

Hi! Sorry for the radio silence... traveling to America and doing family stuff took up way more time and energy than I expected, but I'm back in Japan now!

Basically, I'm fine with anything in terms of a shuffle! I've really enjoyed being on a JE team (it doesn't change my experience too much since the ending words are all that affect what I write, but I have to say that recognizing the names of the people in the other fics on my team is somehow heartening) but I really don't mind anything, and of course, I'm still up to team-lead if you'll have me. I'm really sorry that me not being on twitter is a pain, but I'm happy to PM or email people who need poking!

In terms of LJ vs DW, I have a DW that I'm backed up on, but I don't actively use it, so LJ is really better for me, but if we move, I'll definitely use my DW just for shiritori! It would just be more convenient for me to stay here, haha

Is there anything I missed here? XD I'm still kind of jetlagged, sorry!

I think you're fine! Thank you! Yeah so far nobody seems to want to move around much actually, I think it might just be a matter of going back down to 6 teams since at least a few people are out and Team 2's suddenly tiny, but since Ansa isn't around to be a team captain, that'd be good actually.

Oh, so, I've been thinking, we were talking about JE FQF and then on twitter Lev(i?) says they were interested in doing something about it, but then nothing blah blah blah. I was thinking, what if we just started a new comm on DW and ran our own already? Like is that a dick move? Since no telling if/when the original will run again. What do you think? Even if it's just small exchange or prompt fill, better than nothing.

I think as long as we call it something marginally different, it's fine, not like we're trying to "steal" it or something. I'm sorry I left you hanging on that-- I got busy and it slipped my mind-- but I'd definitely be up for helping set that up and run it! I'm really sad about the lack of exchanges and what have you, so I definitely want to do something if you do!

That sounds good to me! I've never run an exchange before; is that period a little short, or is it normal? Like signups due by mid-May, assignments go out at the end of May, and then one month until the due date? I frankly haven't seen anything else running period since the holidays, so I think we're in the clear there XD; I don't think it should be a problem, but just in case this becomes relevant, I'm moving at the end of July, so it's probable that by the end of June, I'll be somewhat tied up seeing apartments and doing other move-related things. However, I really don't foresee myself not having any time for LJ even while doing that, so I don't think it should be a problem!

Hmmm, what about lyrics from some JE group song or something like that? I guess it could be difficult to find catchy ones in English. Do you have any ideas? XD

hm, a couple weeks for signups isn't unusual, but maybe short for writing. I guess more like six weeks for writing might be about average? I guess I'm not sure how much of a window we'll need to sort pairs between sign-ups and people having their assignment. So yeah, idk. I feel like when you give people a long window, like 8+ weeks, they just put it off and don't start writing for ages anyway.

Yeah I'm trying to think of some stuff, but nothing seems dead on. Like Sadistic Love, Think u x, I Scream Night, Zig Zag Love, Rock Your World? Be Love? Zutto Love? idk why this seems so hard.

Oh OTL I forgot to reply to the top part in the other comment. I agree that giving too much time makes it such that people procrastinate, so idk, 4 weeks plus wiggle room to give people time for extensions seems ok? Or 6 weeks is also fine, but I can almost promise that I won't be available the last week of July and the first 2+ weeks of August because I'll literally be moving and starting a new job. So something like signups from May 1 to May 14, assignments go out May 20th, due date is June 24th (that's 5 weeks), and hopefully posting can start on June 30th? I can't even remember the timeline of like any of the exchanges I've done because I'm an idiot, so let me know if that sounds totally unreasonable. That also gives me time to help out with posting and what have you before my life becomes crazy, and then all that might be left to you is posting the reveals?

Or what about Luv Sick or NextAction? Ai no Beat? I'm basically just scrolling my library at this point.

Or I guess there's the entirely obvious Love So Sweet or Love Addiction. do you like any of these? I feel like there just HAS to be the perfect KAT-TUN for this somewhere, damn.

I too was thinking there must be a perfect KAT-TUN title, but I'm failing to think of anything off the top of my head (all I can come up with is Kiss Kiss Kiss, lol), OTL. I feel like Love Addiction or Zutto Love could be good, as long as it doesn't feel like it's limiting it to a certain group? I feel like something like "ai no katamari" or another senpai song that's been covered by a lot of groups over the ages might be good to have a more general, overall appeal, but I can't think of anything good and mostly English there, either. @_@;

I'm leaning towards Love Addiction at the moment, yeah. I asked tlist quick if anybody had any genius (i'm going to bed as soon as the Sharks stop being in playoff overtime), so if nothing better turns up by the morning, are you okay with that?

Or else just some like super classic KAT-TUN like Wilds of My Heart? Or Real DX? tons of people cover Real DX but it's not exactly dead on.

....actually T&T have some pretty good titles. What about Crazy Rainbow or Ho! Summer? is ho summer too on the nose because loooool. But having an exchange named Crazy Rainbow would be kinda cute too XD

Ahaha Ho! Summer is cracking me up, but I guess that limits the exchange to only ever run in the summer? But I'd be fine with that too XD Crazy Rainbow is also super cute, and I'm also totally fine with Love Addiction; I think it fits the content material well. So... up to you? the longer I think about it, the more I like Ho! Summer. And yeah, exchanges usually run the same time every year and summer's when I'm likely to have the most time, idk about you, but I'm okay with that. Eh, let's do it. I've been inspired by watching T&T's intensely gay music video this while we were at karaoke last week.

Yeah, I mean, I know that about exchanges, but I know FQF sometimes did off-season filler prompts and stuff like that. But it makes sense that the "main" would be summer XD And I'm actually not totally sure about when I'll have the most free time since I'm about to change jobs, but it doesn't seem unlikely that I'll have free time in summer, so I think it's fine! I agree that that is excellent inspiration. |D;

i'm staying, since otherwise i'd probably not write much and i need to keep up the practice for when i really want to pick up writing seriously again once i'm less busy! i'm fine with both staying in my team or being shuffled to another, so in case you do need to shuffle but don't know who, you can throw me into another group, that's fine. i won't be able to manage a group though, so i'm not up for the position of team captain.

and like before, a poke on twitter @kaiohtic would be nice, tho it's not necessary if we stay on LJ since i usually get the notification.

PS: did you think about moving to AO3? AO3 is popular than DW these days, and organizing shiritori on there could work, too. you can simply manage each time in a subcollection of the shiritori parent collection, and as for notifying ppl of the next person's turn, twitter or other sns could be used? for skipping etc. as well.

i'd definitely prefer AO3 over DW.

just chiming in to say i'd vote for AO3 too! i find it much easier than DW.

I'd be interested in a couple people piloting what shiritori could look like on Ao3, but I don't really want to experiment with it myself, or have the time or whatnot. like I can see how it could be useful, since a bunch of us repost there anyway, but I can also see we'd need to change some of the procedures since 'collections' and 'communities' aren't much like the same thing.

I'll definitely keep you in tthe loop!

you could have one team trying out the shiritori thing on AO3 as pilot project then? with the team leader being the manager and they report back at how you it works?

tho i think if ppl just stick to the plan, it'll definitely work out.

the cons about using ao3 would be the inability to post "skip" posts, but i think that can be easily done on twitter, as long as the people in a team remember to each other? i think most ppl here do have twitter, right? a team could also have a group dm to notify each other of the next person's turn, skipping, hiatuses etc.

i would definitely be more interested in posting on AO3. in the long run, i do think all fandoms are moving away from LJ. i don't like the idea of supporting LJ after all they've done to the website by using it further :/

I've made a DW (I'm thesecretdoor over there too) so I'll shiritori wherever we end up. Honestly I still don't understand what the new ToS mean and what impact that will have (I just can't get my head around legal jargon) but my plan is to stay mainly on LJ and just backup to DW in case anything does happen. I saw a few comments above you're thinking of doing some kind of exchange on DW though, I'd be up for that :D

I wouldn't mind being a restarter for sonic if needs be, I haven't gotten much written recently with just starting a new job but hopefully once I settle into a routine I'll find more writing time!

Hi ^^ I sent a more comprehensive email but in reading this over again I definitely feel like I need to expand on it - in any case tl;dr I'm finally getting everything together on my end and I'd be happy to captain etc. but in terms of actual writing I think I can only be on sonic right now as health is still seriously screwing up my writing mojo.

Would people be okay if I captained/helped with modding stuff but wasn't on a regular rotation team for writing? (For this round; I do hope to be back next reshuffle, but the writing is on the wall for this one and has been for a while.)

Also re: spreadsheets I'm happy to share access and whatnot.

Regarding lj vs dw etc. after actually reading everything again I think I like the idea of just staying on lj but backing up to dw to keep bases covered. That keeps things nice and consistent with this comm but does give that extra insurance with respect to lj and their bizzarre status/situation.

Re: contact, since I realized that I have my info on the last line up post I think but not on the contact post pinned on the comm, I've cut back from a lot of things and am primarily on email bluedreaming@fea.st and kkt (email or lj message me for the username)

In any case I also would like to apologize to everyone and especially Mousi, and thank her for keeping things together as I very much did not.
