[team one] untitled

"I’ll let them know," Sehee says and sighs softly when Jongin hangs up on him. She knows that Jongin has been busier than ever the past few weeks because of the current project, but that is still no good excuse to cancel their family date, especially since it's their twin's sixth birthday today.

"What did daddy say?" Jonghun asks, although Sehee can tell that he already knows. He has been watching her throughout the short call and the frown on the boy's face must be mirroring her own.

"Daddy says he'll be late today," Sehee replies, expression softening. She pulls Jonghun into a hug. "He'll join us later, probably around dinner time?"

Jonghun nods, but stays quiet otherwise. Because he wants his father to be with them on his special day, but at the same time he knows not to ask for the impossible. Work is important, as it secures their income, although Sehee and Jongin make more than enough to live comfortably and send both Jonghun and Jongdae to the best universities of the country later on.

Jonghun is quick to pull away from her hug and instead grabs Sehee's hand to pull his mother to the living-room. They stay by the doorframe and watch Jongdae, amused at the way his nose scrunches up when he focuses on the TV show, a pillow pressed to his chest.

"Daddy said to eat the cake without him," Sehee says quietly, immediately drawing Jongdae's attention. Maybe he wasn't as into the show as he seemed to be. After all, the three of them have been waiting for Jongin to return to eat cake and open presents - the twins insisted on waiting, although Sehee has told them they could start first. She had a feeling Jongin would be late. After all, he had been working extra hours for the past two months and this morning he was in a rush as well.

"It's okay, mommy," Jongdae says and puts away the pillow so he can get up and attach himself to Sehee's body. Sehee squats down to pull both her boys into a hug.

"We can eat cake after dinner with daddy," Jonghun whispers into her ear, and his twin continues whispering just as secretively.

"Let's go watch the movies," Jongdae mumbles, eyes glinting with mischief. "And make daddy feel sorry that he's not going with us."

"We'll take lots of pictures and send them to daddy and I'll text him how much fun it is without him," Sehee joins in, chuckling when the kids start to giggle. She's sure that the boys are still a little disappointed that their father is not with them, but she's also certain that they know how much Jongin loves and cherishes their little family. She believes that if he could, he would run to them any time.
