[Team Sonic] 5 times Koji opened a door and did not find what he expected behind it

Starting words from Battle Preparations

Inspired by the Ride On Time documentary about Kabuki ZERO. Trying to come to terms with the whole 9 people thing ... also had the urge to write a random "5 times..." blurb. Idk.

1st Door

"I'm beginning to think we never should have stopped at this coffee shop." Koji checked the time on his phone while he balanced the bags with all of the take out. “Now we probably have to go and get everybody from wherever they went off to.”

Meguro, who had also lost the obligatory lunch rock-paper-scissors, tilted his head and furrowd his eyebrows in confusion, “What’s the problem with that?”

“You know, I’ve heard stories about what Tokyo rehearsal places are like,” Koji told Meguro as they walked down the hallway together, headed back to Kabuki rehearsals from a lunch run. “That you will definitely find a couple making out whenever you open a door.”

Meguro laughed softly. “Ah well, it’s not completely wrong.”

“Well, here goes,” Koji opened the door.

When the two peeked into the room, they found it to be one of the smaller dance studios with a mirror wall. Music was blasting from the stereo - the demo version of Make It Hot. Two figures were in front of the mirrors, practicing the dance moves.

Iwamoto flailed and kept himself from going down and Sakuma went to turn off the music.

“See what I mean? I think we should re-do the standing order again so that doesn’t happen. Especially since we’ll have to change it for Tokyo again,” Sakuma crossed his arms.

Humming, Iwamoto nodded and made a note in a notebook that was lying on a chair. “Good call. Also, do you think we can change this one part…”

Koji closed the door and wiped away fake tears.

“So serious. Aah, I should work more on that choreography, too.”

Patting Koji on the back, Meguro nodded, “You can do it.”

2nd Door

“Ah...this door might be a little dangerous,” Koji looked at the door that lead to the costume area. Watanabe had gone in for measurements earlier and Miyadate was working on designs.

Abe, who had wandered by, stopped and asked, “Dangerous? Why?”

“Ah well you know, I heard things about Tokyo,” Koji waved his arms about. “And these two…”

“Oh, Yuri-gumi?” Abe laughed softly. “Yeah, maybe. Well, only one way to find out isn’t there? The probability of you finding what you expect or finding what you do not expect should be around the same. Unless of course there are several things you would expect or not expect. Which would change things. But that’s something I cannot answer for you.” Smiling at Koji, he wandered off again, leaving Koji to himself to decide whether to open the door or not.

“Probability...eh yeah that’s too much for me.” Koji stared at the door again. There were only two options. Opening the door or not opening the door.

Koji’s curiosity won and he pushed the door open.

He found Watanabe and Miyadate sitting at the table pouring over designs. Miyadate was frowning and poking his own cheek with a pencil. Watanabe had his arms crossed and seemed to be throwing in some ideas and suggestions.

“Ryota, that looks really good! I can’t wait to wear it,” Watanabe looked up from a sketch.

Miyadate smiled, “Well yours was easy because I know exactly what you like. I’m trying to make these with all of our individual tastes in mind but also the group image as a whole and with the choreography and everything. I want things to look good but also to be easy to move in. Ah, can you pass me Fukka’s sketch again, Shota?”

“You’ve always been thorough. Here you are.”

Closing the door again, Koji sighed. “So serious! Were all the stories wrong after all?”

3rd Door

“Abe-kun, can you- gaah! I’m sorry!” Koji closed the door again when he found the pair behind the door in a rather promising position. He had only caught a glimpse but he had been able to see some tongue. Fukazawa had blinked at him while Abe had had the decency to blush.

Now this was what all the stories he’d heard had been about.

However, he had not expected this from these two!!

“Tatsuya, you said you locked the door!”

“Oops. My bad.”

He could still hear their voices through the door.

“Abe-kun! Out of all people!!” Koji whined. Then he blinked and his mouth formed a small ‘o’ when he realized something. “Woah, he calls him by his given name?”

4th Door

“Ah, Sakuma and Hikaru were practicing the choreography. I still have some trouble with it so since they’re already at it I could go and ask them,” Koji remembered and went back to the dance studio he and Meguro had poked their heads into earlier.

The music was on again inside of it, still Make It Hot, but instead of thrusting their hips at an invisible audience, Sakuma and Iwamoto seemed to be about to thrust their hips against each other’s. Sakuma was wreaking havoc in Iwamoto’s hair, holding onto the long locks, while they were making out, pressed against one of the long mirrors.

Iwamoto’s hands had disappeared somewhere under Sakuma’s t-shirt.

“...eh maybe right now’s not the time.” Koji closed the door again. And damn, the look on Sakuma’s face had actually made him hot right now.

5th Door

Koji pushed the double doors open and walked into the big rehearsal room again. When he did he found the other members of Snow Man sitting around the tables in the back. Apparently everyone had taken a lunch break while he had gone to check some things with some of the staff members. They looked up and smiled at him when he approached them.

“Hey Koji! We were about to eat lunch.”

“Ah, I didn’t get any-”

“No problem,” Fukazawa interrupted him and then patted the seat between himself and Watanabe. “We got you covered.”

“We all wanted to eat together,” Sakuma smiled and waved him over. “Come on!”

For a moment, Koji was a bit at a loss for words. He was still getting used to this whole new group thing. He still worried a lot about this decision. But looking at the people around him now, he felt that he shouldn’t worry about things so much.

To be honest, he had not expected them to welcome him like this but then again, many things in life were unexpected. It kept things interesting, or so they said.
