[Team Three] We will go from here

I put up a poll on twitter to decide on what to write. So here's the result.

Leaving more than enough cash to cover for their drinks and food, Sakuma moves where Iwamoto is still staring off into space in their little dining booth. He smiles and settles back into his own seat across from the other. He understands how Iwamoto is feeling. He feels the same way, deep down, underneath all the giddiness and happiness that have bubbled up to the surface and are considered his ‘usual self’.

Sakuma can still see a little red around Iwamoto’s eyes. They had all cried earlier. Some of them more and some of them less. Tears and joy and tears of sorrow.

They have made it.

It feels unreal and yet the barrage of notifications on his phone tells him that it’s anything but.

Date-sama: [We just told Shota’s mom and now I don’t know who’s crying more.]

Abe-chan: [Fukka’s also still crying.]

Koji Koji: [I think my mother broke her phone when I told her.]

[Picture of crying Shota]

Shota: [I hate you.]

Date-sama: [♡]

Just like the messages are all over the place, the entire day in itself had been one hell of a rollercoaster ride. They had all known about Johnny being hospitalized. They had all been in and out of the hospital these past few days, keeping Tackey, who seemed to be glued to the old man’s bedside, company. And well, hoping for the best.

Today though, Tackey had specifically summoned all of them to the hospital. Sakuma had braced himself for the worst, for the bad news. For one of the people who had influenced his life to no longer be in this world. He had been prepared to feel shaken. And he had been shaken, to his core. But the news he had received in the hospital room had been different from the news he had anticipated. The news he had received had still very much changed his life and would still be changing his life from now on out.

‘Debut.’

He puts the phone back into his bag and then nudges Iwamoto. “We should go soon, Hikaru.”

“Ah, yeah. Okay,” Iwamoto seems to snap out of some kind of trance he had been in until Sakuma talked to him. They both get up and take their bags. Sakuma stops Iwamoto when the other reaches for his wallet and just tugs the taller male out of the restaurant with him.

Iwamoto blinks.

Sakuma smiles. “Let me be a good boyfriend, too, from time to time?”

“Idiot,” Iwamoto snorts softly but then smiles. “Thank you.”

By the time they reach the area close to Sakuma’s apartment, it’s dark outside and there are no other people out on the streets. Sakuma blinks when he feels a hand reach for his but then smiles when he feels Iwamoto lacing their fingers together.

He can tell that Iwamoto seems to feel lighter right now, compared to a few hours ago. Sakuma feels the same way. A burden none of them had realized they had been carrying - because they had been carrying it for so long - had been taken off their shoulders. It would soon be replaced by a different burden but until then, they were free.

They would go from here.
