Finally on time!

“Your life,” Ed says, shaking his head, sliding his chair back before levering himself to him feet. “I suppose you don’t have a dishwasher?” He reaches for Al’s bowl, stacking them together, spoons in the top one, and heads for the sink.
“Winry keeps saying that she’s going to send Paninya out to tinker around,” Al says, coming up beside Ed to fill the sink and pull out the dish detergent.
“But, let me guess, she hasn’t gotten around to it yet?” Ed says, nudging Al out of the way. The water is warm on his hands—he wiggles his fingers around in the suds before getting down to work.
“It’s been a year,” Al says, poking Ed with a pointy elbow but nevertheless letting him do the washing up. “She’s never going to have time to spare, unless she gets another intern.”
“And she’ll never have time to find and train up another intern unless she slows down,” Ed adds. Al meets his eyes, both of them grinning in fond amusement at their best friend.
“Exactly,” Al says. “So, maybe in a decade or so.” They laugh, and Ed hands Al a bowl to rinse and set in the drying rack.
