[Team three] cheers to your pants
I got my days mixed up because time is meaningless, but anyway, I finished this before my turn was up. So I figured I'd go ahead and post it lol. It's nonsense anyway.
HSJ (takahika), g-rated (mostly), little over 400 words
"Happy anniversary," Takaki grins as he slides a crumpled-looking piece of paper across the kitchen table.
Hikaru looks down at the folded paper, blinking in confusion. "It's... not our anniversary."
Takaki continues grinning, but now it's over the rim of his coffee mug. He waits, looking smug, as if the answer will click in Hikaru's head any moment now.
Hikaru just narrows his eyes suspiciously. Today isn't the anniversary of their first date or their first kiss or even when they first moved in together. He can't think of a single event in the course of their relationship that Takaki could be celebrating today.
"I can't believe you don't remember," Takaki teases, feigning astonishment with an exaggerated wave of his hand. The movement sloshes his coffee dangerously close to the edge of the mug which causes him to quickly drop the act for the sake of his early morning drink.
"Please enlighten me." Hikaru rolls his eyes. It would be quicker than guessing.
Takaki laughs heartily before he answers, confirming Hikaru's theory that whatever he says next is going to be absurd.
"It's the one year anniversary of the day you bought those pants I really like."
Hikaru stares.
"That's it?!"
Takaki grins, nodding. "Those pants are the greatest piece of clothing you own. They should be celebrated every day." He gestures to himself. "I'm definitely ready to celebrate your pants."
Hikaru tries to make a stern face, tries to wrangle his mouth into a disapproving frown. But the declaration is so absurd and Takaki's enthusiasm is infectious, so Hikaru just throws his head back and laughs.
"Alright," he says. "What exactly did you have in mind?"
Takaki gestures to the folded paper still resting on the table. "Read that and find out."
Hikaru opens it up to see Takaki's messy handwriting scrawled on the inside.

"This is my anniversary gift?" Hikaru questions, shaking his head in amusement at how childish it sounds. "You didn't get me a real gift?"
Takaki gestures towards himself, pretending to be offended. "Am I not good enough to be a gift?"
"You're right," Hikaru teases. "You should have just tacked a Christmas bow on top of your head."
He carefully folds the paper closed again for safekeeping. It's probably the silliest morning they've had in a while but Hikaru wants to savor the memory for later. He wants to hold onto these feelings of love which continue to bloom, well-tended and watered by Takaki.
As Takaki finishes off the last of his coffee, Hikaru stands up from the table. "Okay then. Let's go find those pants."
