[TEAM THREE]

My Fair Lady drabble, unrequited Henry Higgins/Eliza Doolittle, 100 words, G.

You might marry, he'd told Eliza during their argument in his mother's conservatory, but it was only with the benefit of hindsight (and being told in no uncertain terms that she no longer needed him, not the way he needed her) that he realised his words had not been merely a fanciful option, presented to his former student in response to her anguished question, but his own dreams, writ large.

It irked him because he has not undertaken this project to mould himself a wife, but merely to prove a point, stroke his own ego.

Now, he was alone again.

Oh, I love drabbles! I love the emotion in this, and the way you wrapped it up with the final sentence.

Totally understandable! I’ve been really growing to love them as well.
