[TEAM ONE]
It was time for his wish to come true.
He would admit he was nervous. He couldn’t exactly hide it, what with the clammy hands and nervous shifting from foot to foot. Sora opened most of the time, partly because he was a sucker and couldn’t say no if someone asked really really nicely, with a pretty please on top, and somehow all of them knew if they asked that way he’d say yes, damn it, but the point was: Sora usually opened, ungodly hour be damned.
Not that he minded as much nowadays. He gingerly placed the warm drink down on the counter, then scooted it delicately further in with the edge of his nail. The tips of his ears still stung because he’d quite literally dragged himself out of bed, taking a pillow and two blankets along, with a slurred whattimeisit when he realized his snooze button had given up on him. This wasn’t the first time by a longshot, and sadly wouldn’t be the last no matter how many times Sora proclaimed he’d get up on time. With a harried rush around his apartment, he’d forgotten his hat, and the winter chill was not happy today. Sora sniffled.
Still, the cafe was warm and Sora was thawing, and with no one around for these pitch-black hours of the morning he’d been able to attempt a new drink. Sugary with a kick of spice, topped with cream and drizzled in caramel, and embellished with the cutest straws and sprinkles Sora could find. His eyes slid to the back door.
Frost crept along the edges of the thin, rectangular window set high in the industrial door, an unnecessary inclusion if you asked Sora, since no one could see out of it half the time. He pushed the drink a little more, stealing a touch more of warmth that radiated out of the biodegradable coffee cups their store used. Its gritty texture scraped beneath Sora’s nail. What was taking him so long?
Then, as if just thinking of him summoned him at the door, he head the usual, succinct two-raps on the door. Sora sprang out of his chair, dashing to grasp the ice-cold metal handle and wrenched the heavy door open. If he was asked, he’d say it was the rush of cold air that shocked a gasp from him.
