[team three] team bonding
I'm watching Tomorrow these days, and seeing Ryunggu smile and being somewhat more friendly to Junwoong is making me happy... And also makes me want to see more of them together. So. A little thing. Unfinished because it's late, but maybe I'll eventually write more of it! I really like them :)
“Not everyone seems to agree — Ryeon has a soft spot for you, at least, probably because the two of you are so alike — but personally I think you’re a menace.” Ryunggu sounded mean, but he was hiding a smile behind the can as he took a sip of his beer. It reminded Junwoong of that time — of course, I didn’t want to believe in you, said with a teasing smile, that had made him realize that Ryunggu was smiling, actually smiling at him.
Junwoong was getting used to it now, he’d even call them friends, but back then that realization had brought him a pang of joy. For the first several weeks of his time in this job, Ryunggu had been annoyed with him, preferring to keep him out of the actual work. Surely he was a thorn in both team members’ side, ignoring the rules and getting himself and the others into trouble. And yet, maybe he’d grown on them. Ryeon was still her own kind of stoic, but Ryunggu, who had somehow been more grumpy about it, would suddenly start smiling at him. Teasing him. And it was so nice. It felt like maybe, in Jumadeung where he was an outcast, a half-and-half, maybe he belonged here a little more, now.
“Oh, you say that, but I think you like that I’m a menace.” Junwoong didn’t bother hiding his own smile.
Ryunggu scoffed. “You little troublemaker.”
“Don’t think I don’t know who puts one of these on my desk every day.” Junwoong dug into his pockets and pulled out a small handful of wrapped chocolates, then picked out two to place on the table before dropping the rest back into his pocket. He pushed one of the chocolates over to Ryunggu’s side of the table, and popped the other one into his mouth.
At least Ryunggu had the decency to look a little bashful now. Still, he picked up the chocolate. “They’re complimentary from the lobby. I just thought it would be rude to only get one for myself.” He slowly unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite, then stopped to stare at Junwoong. “You’re storing them? Instead of eating them?”
“Well—” Junwoong fumbled. “I can’t have chocolate every day! I’m just keeping them for when I really want some! Is that so wrong?!” He could feel himself getting worked up and starting to ramble, his instinctual reaction to feeling judged in the smallest of ways.
“No, no, it’s not, I was just surprised, that’s all!” said Ryunggu hurriedly, waving his hands in front of Junwoong. “I didn’t mean it in a bad way.”
