[team two] untitled
some more stuff for this random AU of mine.
juri, shintaro | PG | 580 words
“Everything’s so hectic and busy lately,” Shintaro huffs to Jesse over their second beers. “And now I have to work on that report too, on top of everything else.”
Juri isn’t eavesdropping, not really, he just happens to be serving another customer close enough that he can hear them. He glances over quickly while handing a beer over the counter. The bar is rather busy so he hasn’t had time to chat much with Shintaro and Jesse.
But before rushing to gather empty glasses from the tables, he makes sure to hand them a complimentary bowl of chips, because they are regulars and kind of his friends and because he can. Jesse exclaims happily and Shintaro smiles at him when he walks by.
Juri cleans up tables, pours some more drinks and ends up helping their bouncer to escort one too-drunk customer out of the bar. When he eventually makes it back behind the counter, he finds Shintaro sitting there alone, nursing the end of his beer. Juri’s shift is almost over so he reckons he can spare some minutes now.
“Jesse abandoned you?” he asks and fishes one of the last chips from the bowl.
“Yeah, he had to go.” Shintaro looks at Juri, somehow sympathetic. “Looks like I’m not the only one who’s busy with work right now.”
“Yep,” Juri admits, sighing. “We’re a bit short staffed right now and it’s been very busy lately. But now I’m almost done for the night, thank god.”
“Good job,” Shintaro raises the remaining of his beer for a small toast.
Juri doesn’t know why the other has stayed behind after Jesse had left, but now that he’s here…
“Are you in a hurry now?” he asks quickly before he loses his nerve or has time to think too much. “I’m kinda hungry and thought I could grab a bite before going home. You want to come too?”
“Sure, why not,” Shintaro says right away.
They meet at the entrance after Juri has quickly changed out of his working clothes, and set off towards the station where Juri knows a nice ramen place. Juri laughs at the stark contrast of their clothing: Shintaro in his nice dark suit, while Juri’s in ripped jeans, worn-out band tee and leather jacket.
”Will you be fine, walking around with a guy like me?” he jokes.
”Don’t worry. And you should see how I dress when I’m off.”
It feels kind of surreal to be walking along the streets with Shintaro, as Juri has only seen him at the bar so far. It’s like he hasn’t existed outside of it before this moment. It turns out he’s still very easy to talk to, their humor and banter seeming to match quite well. They keep chatting until they have steaming bowls of ramen in front of them and fall silent to eat.
Shintaro eats with a good appetite and praises the food afterwards, which makes Juri happy.
“There are many good places around here,” Juri tells him. “Like one great late-night restaurant where I sometimes go after work.”
“Great, you can take me there next time,” Shintaro says, grinning.
“Deal!”
And so they end up adding each other on Line, promising to keep in touch when they don’t meet at the bar. Then they say good night, Shintaro hurrying for the last train and Juri heading home. He’s tired but his steps are light and he’s feeling extremely chipper. It was a good night after all.
thesecretdoor, you're up!
