Dancing in the Rain
Dancing in the Rain - 511 words
Takaki/Yabu
Dance is something Takaki likes to do at any time, but dancing in the rain was something that he always wanted to do. Well, with a specific person anyway. He didn't care if it sounded cliche, okay, well maybe a little, which is why he never told said person about it. That was until now anyway.
It just so happened to be one of those rare days where neither one of them had anything on their schedule, one of those rainy days that were just perfect for days off too. Takaki and Yabu were sitting in Takaki's bedroom, not really doing or saying much of anything. It was nice that they could quietly enjoy each others company without having to do anything but be there. You didn't find that comfort with just anybody after all.
"Say, Yabu, I was thinking......." Takaki started but trailed off. He had been thinking about this ever since he woke up this morning and saw the rain, but even now he was hesitant to tell Yabu of his secret desire.
Sensing his uneasiness, Yabu moved to sit next to Takaki where he was on the floor and leaned his head against Takaki's shoulder. "What's wrong? You can tell me anything you know." Yabu closed his eyes, relishing the warmth he felt coming from Takaki's body.
"I know, but," there was another hesitant pause, "I want to do something, but I don't want you to laugh at me." There was a slight pink to Takaki's cheek if you looked just right at him.
This got Yabu's curiosity going, what on earth could it be that would make Takaki nervous? "If you don't..."
"No! I do! It's just...."
"Don't force yourself."
Takaki pouted. This really wasn't working out the way he wanted to. He nudged Yabu to let him know he was moving. Yabu straightened himself out as Takaki stood up, to hold his hand out to Yabu, who grabbed it at, letting Takaki pull him up.
"What's..." But before Yabu could really say anything else, Takaki was leading him out the bedroom, towards the front door. "It's raining, Takaki, where are we going?"
"In the rain." Was the only answer that Takaki was willing to give.
Standing outside in the warm summer rain, Takaki sighed, lifting his head to the sky, letting the rain fall on him as he took a deep breath. He reached his hands out to Yabu's waist, grabbing his hips, the shocked look he got in return surprisingly gave him the courage to continue. "I want to dance. Right here, right now, with you."
Yabu knew he shouldn't, with the serious look that Takaki had, but he couldn't help himself and laughed a little. He smiled as Takaki started frowning, reaching his hands out, one around Takaki's waist, the other on his shoulder. "I'd be honored to have this dance." It was a bit much and he laughed again.
Dancing slowly to their own beat out in the rain, both boys felt like it was heaven, and they never wanted it to end.
