[team 1] Smoked

Cigarettes start the war.

Miyata saw the catalyst, saw the stress and expectation suddenly pilled on Tamamori - a drama lead, a front man, the weight of debut - saw Fujigaya offer him the occasional cigarette from his own pack as stress relief while they sat hunched over the same script with matching dark rimmed eyes trying to learn lines and remember choreography and stage marks.

Eventually Tamamori started buying his own.

Perhaps it’s understandable, perhaps even acceptable, they’re of age and most in the agency do smoke but Miyata disliked the habit. He would bite back complaints about Tamamori’s breath while they stood pressed cheek to cheek for idol photo shoots, stay silent when overly affected by graphic government sponsored ads listing the health effects. Irrational fears settled in and Miyata would call Tamamori every evening on the guise of saying goodnight but truthfully to ensure the younger hadn’t drifted off lit cigarette in hand and engulfed in flames.

The war started covertly.

Cigarette packets inconspicuously went missing from Tamamori’s bag, Fujigaya would lend him one but then the lighter Tamamori bought only yesterday would inexplicably not work. Despite Miyata’s best efforts to stay unnoticed he was eventually caught red handed, pack of stolen cigarettes in one hand Tamamori’s ransacked bag in the other while he blinks panicked frozen under Tamamori’s dark glare.

Regardless of his obvious guilt of the crime Miyata refused to apologise and Tamamori's retaliation was swift.

Starting childish lunch bentos go missing but Miyata draws back scared when he eavesdrops on Tamamori sweetly telling television staff how much he adores the sea even suggests numerous swimming based location shoots. Then the cut is deep when Miyata discovers unwatched episodes of anime have been deleted from his recorder and Tamamori settles into a constant state of tsuntsun every cold comment directed his way growing new torns.

The dressing room turns icy between them and Fujigaya sits by Tamamori’s side a little peeved that no one seems to care that he smokes but stubbs his cigarette out when Yokoo asks pointedly how Fujigaya would feel if he influenced Marius into picking up the habit.

After a week of war Miyata switches tactics adopting a different approach.

As a long day drags he finds Tamamori overwrought and stressed reaching for a cigarette but blocked as Miyata forcefully drags him away into an unused dressing room. Miyata holds Tamamori tight with an arm curled snug round his waist and his hand splayed across Tamamori's tailbone burning heat into his skin. Lips ghost along the hollow of his throat and gentle fingers soothe along his temple and Miyata doesn’t stop till Tamamori all but melts against him loose and boneless.

The following day Miyata repeats the process determined to replace the issue with another addiction.

MIYATA YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT.

when Miyata discovers unwatched episodes of anime have been deleted from his recorder
this borders on unforgivable though, Tama :|

I always like the way you write them. Or the way you write in general, actually. ♥
