NiSen! A bit confused and pointless maybe.
“Because it’s our first date,” Senga crosses his arms and pouts.
Nikaido stares at him from his side of the table. Mentioning the date had become Senga’s favourite answer to everything. Or better, a way to convince Nikaido to do things.
Nikaido was proud of choosing an amusement park as the location of their first official date, but he’s starting to realize that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea. Not that they had never been out together before, but, as Senga insists to point out at every occasion, this is their very first date as a couple, so it holds a completely different meaning.
It all happened after Nikaido, the week before the date, realized that Senga’s lips were kissable and his body was touchable. He had also found necessary to tell Senga he likes him best of all the other things in the world. Since that day, he had been dragged into this new level of relationship with him.
He still can’t see the difference from the way they were before, really, but Senga considers things like dates and couple stuff important, and Nikaido obliges, because what makes Senga happy makes him happy as well.
So, the day before their amusement park date, when Senga tells him they should wear matching colours, Nikaido can’t say no because “it’s our first date, we must look like a couple,” and he doesn’t even voice out loud that he thinks they’ll look like a couple of idiots.
And when Senga wants to go to the haunted house, earlier that day, he follows him because “it’s our first date, we should be together, always.” Nikaido doesn’t like places where people jump out to scare you in the dark, but going there was a good excuse to demand the first hug of the day. Nikaido likes physical contact but it’s not like they can do that in public without an excuse.
When at lunchtime, Senga takes out from his bag two big bento boxes, Nikaido frowns but he doesn’t say it’s gross and embarrassing, he just eats the food because “it’s our first date, I wanted to make something for you. Don’t expect me to do it often though. It’s gross.” Nikaido almost spits out rice everywhere, but he doesn’t complain. After all, Senga is so good at cooking.
When Senga grabs his arm to push him against one of the mirrors in the mirror house, Nikaido tries to resist, but “it’s our first date and there’s no one around.”
But now Nikaido is tired of the game and seriously hopes that the several next dates wouldn’t involve such a demanding Senga. He also decides that future dates won’t involve any dangerous or scary activity.
“So what? I can’t say no because it’s our first date?” Nikaido asks, digging holes in his sundae with the spoon.
“But we are at the amusement park! We must try the giant, super-fast roller-coaster!”
“But I like the other rides better,” Nikaido whispers in an attempt not to sound actually terrified.
“You’re just a scaredy-cat.”
Nikaido sulks and buries the spoon in the glass, “Okay, I’ll go.”
“Yay! Nika you’re the best.”
“I’ll go, but you’ll have to hold my hand.”
Senga laughs, “So you are a scaredy-cat after all!”
“No, it’s not that,” Nikaido pauses, “it’s because it’s our first date.”
Senga grins at Nikaido’s attempt to turn the tables and reaches for the other’s hand.
“Not now!” Nikaido takes away his hand while a pink blush spreads on his cheeks, “on the ride... so we’ll have an actual excuse to hold hands.”
“Should we wait for the sunset before riding it, then? That’d be romantic.” Senga says right before he fails to hide his amusement and starts giggling.
“Yeah, laugh.”
Outsmarted, Nikaido keeps twisting the spoon in the melted ice cream. Maybe if his pout is cute enough to distract Senga, then the dessert will be his treat.
