Rules of Rehearsal

I was hoping that doing this would force me to start writing again.

It's not much, but it's something. *sigh* Here goes:

“Stop grinning, it’s obnoxious.”

Nikaido’s grin turned awkward as he bit his lip, clearly trying his best to comply, and Yokoo sighed. He supposed that he couldn’t really say anything; he’d given Nikaido enough grief for failing to read the kanji in his script. If Yokoo messed up his lines, it’s his own fault. Nikaido hadn’t even said anything, and the grin was only annoying because Yokoo knew he deserved it.

Yokoo sighed again and Nikaido’s smile disappeared entirely.

“I’m sorry, Watta,” he said hurriedly. “I won’t laugh. Let’s try it again.”

He looked so serious that Yokoo felt guilty.

“No, Nika, I’m sorry. You’ve been really patient. I shouldn’t have snapped at you.”

“It’s okay,” Nikaido started, and Yokoo waved him quiet.

“Let’s go for dinner after we’re done rehearsing. My treat,” Yokoo added, and he breathed easier, a weight lifted from his shoulders when a smile again lit up Nikaido’s face.

Next is [livejournal.com profile] mousapelli.

Hope I did that right.
