[TEAM 1] untitled
Now, be reborn.
The voice echoes in Yokoo’s head as consciousness swirls in. He opens his eyes, blinking against the light, and winces at the loud cheers that rise up around him.
“Watta!” Nikaido hollers, and Yokoo cringes as a warm weight lands on top of him. There are hands touching him, gentle squeezes and pats, and Yokoo tries to remember what happened. Suddenly everyone disappears and Yokoo startles as the world shifts around him.
“Wha...?” He tries to sit up.
“Easy there,” says a deep voice. It vibrates through him, coming from the ground and the sky and everywhere at once. “You’re okay.”
Yokoo tries to focus. Things have stopped moving, and he carefully gets a hand under himself and pulls himself to his knees. He’s on someone’s hand, he realizes, and looks up and up to find Ueda looking down at him. Yokoo pushes himself wobbly to his feet, his wings fluttering for balance.
“What happened?”
“Some people are idiots,” is all Ueda says, and the rest of Yokoo’s group land around him, spreading out onto the other palm Ueda raises.
Fujigaya hugs him, mask securely in place and pink dust drifting from his wings. “I’m glad you’re okay,” he whispers.
It finally occurs to Yokoo what happened.
“Who said it?!” he demands to know, but Kitayama’s hand on his wrist stops him from flying off in righteous anger.
“Nikaido has it covered,” he says, and Nikaido rises up to hover above them.
“Revenge fairy, at your service,” he says, giving a smart little salute before darting off, Senga chasing the green dust trail he leaves in his wake.
Yokoo just shakes his head and follows the others as they step off Ueda’s hands and onto the leaves of a large potted plant, warm from the sunlight streaming in through the window.
“It’s probably better if I don’t know.”
