[Team 2] Dark Secret
So I was told it's my turn.
Really short and really random.
Best left untold.
Best to be forgotten.
Some things just weren’t meant to be shared, to be remembered, to ever have happened. But sometimes you just couldn’t stop these things from happening.
“He’s dead,” this voice was shaky.
“We killed him,” the other voice was barely audible.
They looked at each other. “Let’s burn him. Let’s burn this place down so nobody will know!”
“Are you insane? This could be dangerous! And I mean-”
“Do you know any other way? This way, it will just be our little secret. Nobody else will ever know. He’ll have burned to ashes here until someone finds him!”
“You’re serious.”
“And you aren’t? This is for our sake. For our love. It was him or us. It is him or us.”
A pregnant pause, uncomfortable silence.
Then the click of a lighter. “You think cooking oil burns?”
“It’s oil. It should.
The corpse burns brightly in the underpass. At this time of the day there are no other passersby, no cars, the area is deserted.
Mika clung to Eiji’s arm. “It was for the best, wasn’t it?” she whispered brokenly.
“It-” he paused for a moment before he replied, “Yes it was.”
All was fair - and right - in love and war.
