[Team 3] Bartender
I just found out today that in the Kagiheya books, the bartender at Enomoto's favorite pool bar is named Kageyama, so here's a quick and painless crossover AU to get Team 3 started. :D FYI, Bookomoto is a little different from Dramamoto, so this version's kind of a blend of the two.
Kei waits for the bourbon to finish filtering into his new glass, nestling against the single ice cube, before reaching his hand out to take it. He lifts it up and nods at Kageyama, an invisible toast, before taking a sip. Kageyama never drinks with him -- after all, he has a lady to return to long before her morning begins -- but Kei finds that he prefers it this way sometimes. There's no pressure to get excited or be loud and boisterous. He can just let a few drinks filter into his system and enjoy the quiet company of someone who understands him.
"She tries," Kei says fondly, rocking his drink in his hand, waiting for the clink of the ice cube against one side, then the other, and then rolling back again.
"Aoto-sensei does seem to have her moments of brilliance," Kageyama says with a polite smile on his face. He's standing up as straight as ever, all right angles, with his hands clasped comfortably in front of him. "She would be quite welcome at our establishment, if you ever feel inclined to bring her."
Kei looks at the drink in his hand and considers it, imagines poring over the details of a locked room at the bar, or coaxing Junko into appreciating the divine mental process that is a game of nine ball. Junko wouldn't take to it immediately -- she doesn't have the precision of movement that Kei has acquired over many years in his line of work -- but what she lacks in innate skill and knowledge she makes up for in determination and her willingness to rethink what she knows.
"And you?" Kei turns the question back on Kageyama, examining his glass for a long moment before looking back up at the other man. "Why haven't I met Hosho-san yet? Does she even know you work at a bar on the side?"
"She knows I have a great deal of interests," Kageyama replies, nodding slightly. His smile looks a little more smug than before. Kei brings his glass to his lips, tugged up into a smirk of understanding.
Kei's cell phone buzzes in his pocket. He swiftly tips the last of his drink into his mouth before gingerly pulling his phone out of his pocket and looking at the caller ID. Junko.
"My lady calls," Kei says almost seriously, flashing his phone at Kageyama. He puts his glass on the bar and exits silently, tapping the screen. Kageyama will put it on his tab.
Your turn,
mynamelessname!
