[Team 1] Sleepless in Hakata

Since Takizawa Kabuki @ Hakataza is starting soon.

Up an down. Rising and falling. Breathe in, hold, release.

Sakuma rolled over on his bed and heaved a soft sigh. No, watching Abe sleep was not going to help him fall asleep it seemed. Neither had counting sheep, naming all the characters from his favorite anime or thinking of the most boring class he’d ever taken at school.

He didn’t understand how he wasn’t tired. Or actually no, he was tired, exhausted even after yet another full day of rehearsals - shows were starting soon and they only had a few days to actually practice on the stage they would be using, a stage none of them had ever been on before - but he was unable to fall asleep for some reason.

Deciding that things weren’t getting anywhere here, Sakuma decided to go and get himself something to drink. Maybe walking around and something warm would help.

So he put on his hoodie, grabbed his wallet and the keycard for the room and left quietly.

When he got to the vending machine corner, he blinked when he saw a familiar face. Of course he’d seen the long legs stretched out from behind one of the machines from afar already but despite his gut telling him that he knew the person, he hadn’t been 100% sure. Now he was. “Hikaru?” he asked softly.

“Sakkun,” Iwamoto looked up from where he’d been staring off into space. A small smile tugged on the corner of his lips, “Can’t sleep?”

“Looks like it. You?” Sakuma asked and then looked at the selection of drinks the vending machine had to offer. The lit-up display vanished from his sight a few seconds later though when a pair of strong arms was wrapped around his waist and pulled him off to the side. He smiled when Iwamoto leaned his head against his lower body. “Hikaru?”

He reached up and patted the other’s head gently. “Did you feel lonely?”

“Did not,” Iwamoto mumbled but Sakuma could tell from the tone of the other’s voice that what he had said wasn’t the complete truth.

Sakuma could feel Iwamoto’s warm breath even through his clothes and he couldn’t help but laugh softly. “Let’s get some fresh air. Maybe that’ll help,” he pulled himself out of the other’s hold and then went back to the vending machine. The machine clattered once, twice and then he pressed a warm can of chocolate against Iwamoto’s shoulder. “Come on.”

They made it up to the rooftop of the hotel - white bedsheets and towels and patterned yukata were drying in the soft but still chilly spring breeze.

Actually the cold made him feel more awake again but the warm drink in his hand and then going down his throat increased the feeling of exhaustion and sleepiness. Sakuma fought back a yawn that turned into a bit of a cough.

“You sure we should stay out here?” Iwamoto asked and laughed quietly. He moved closer to the other though, maybe in an attempt to shield the other from the wind a little bit.

“Not for too long,” Sakuma muttered. “It feels good, though, doesn’t it? And you can even see some stars here. Better than back home.” He looked up into the sky. It was a clear night and the part of the city they were in wasn’t lit up too brightly at this time of the night.

He didn’t get to gaze at the stars for too long though because what filled his entire vision next was Iwamoto’s face, the corners of the other’s eyes crinkled a bit as he was smiling. Sakuma couldn’t help but smile back and reached up to push some of Iwamoto’s hair of of the other’s face. “Your hair is getting long. How long are you planning on teasing your fans like this?”

“Mh, I don’t know? And it’s not like I have the time to go and get it cut now,” Iwamoto shrugged. “Maybe after the play is over. Or maybe after the Tokyo shows.”

“You’ll end up looking like Taira no Masakado-sama,” Sakuma joked.

“My hair doesn’t grow THAT fast, you idiot,” Iwamoto shot back but there was no force behind his words, they were spoken gently, the ‘idiot’ at the end almost sounding like an endearment. And maybe that was exactly what it was meant to be.

Sakuma laughed softly and then kept his fingers threaded into the other’s hair. “Well, who cares about the hair anyway. Or at least I don’t.” His voice was soft and quiet, calm and comforting even, something that was somewhat unusual for Sakuma. He smiled at Iwamoto and then tugged the other down until their lips met.

Their kiss tasted like chocolate and hot lemon.
