[Team 1] A Day In Akiba

This thing is all over the place but I hope you don't mind. Been wanting to write some IwamotoxSakuma ever since TV fan tweeted about the shenanigans that happened at the shoot where my icon is from. Most notably: "We told Sakuma to hug the pillow. He turned to hug Iwamoto tightly instead. (lol)"

Contains Miyata and Sakuma being otaku-tomo, some MiyaTama mentioned in passing and then Iwamoto x Sakuma. Loosely connected to my other shiritori fic here.

Too many. There were simply too many things to chose from.

Sakuma frowned at the center aisle of the Akihabara Animate store. Shopping here was always a bit of a challenge. He’d set himself a budget before going - simply because he went so often - but sticking to it was hard sometimes.

“What do you think?” he asked his shopping companion, who was standing next to him and was looking at the same display. “The new SD figurine set - Cake & Kawaii Edition - or the new series of clearfiles? I’m having a hard time deciding.”

“I agree, it’s hard,” Miyata replied and lifted both items up to inspect them. “I might go for both. I won’t have the time to come back to Akiba again in the next few weeks because of work. So if you want to check out one of the things in more detail, you’re welcome to come over to my place if our schedules match up?”

“Really? Hmm,” Sakuma picked up a box. “I think I’ll go with the figurine set then. I feel like it’ll be sold out faster than the clearfiles.” He blinked, “Oh, maybe I’ll just place a reservation for the clearfiles and order two sets.” He grinned, “One to use, one to keep.” He knew that was more money than he’d planned to spend but hey, such was the life of a fanboy. Or fangirl for that matter. Sakuma knew he wasn’t alone with that way of thinking.

He and Miyata hadn’t even arranged to meet up today but when Sakuma had arrived in Akihabara in the early afternoon, he’d received an email from the other saying that he was in Akihabara right now and was looking at stuff in a shop that might be of interest to Sakuma as well. With a bright grin on his face, Sakuma had told the other to stay put and a few minutes later, he had found the other inside the figurine shop. After their customary greeting - everyone in Akiba had their own ‘secret handshake’ or something like that - Miyata got Sakuma caught up on what he’d been looking at and what he was thinking.

Naturally the twothen decided to continue on together, browsing through the new displays at a couple of the shops they frequented and talking about the quality of the merchandise or whatever else they had gotten their hands onto.

Over lunch at a curry restaurant, a few other familiar faces from the ‘Akikba Otaku Connection’ joined them and there was a heated debate about the latest episode of this anime or that, the character designs, the differences to the original manga, the prowess of the established voice actresses and the improvement the newer ones had made.

After lunch, Miyata had invited Sakuma for a couple of hours of karaoke - senpai’s treat and all that - and the two got all fired up in their room, waving light sticks around and dancing along to the videos shown on the large TV screen. Sakuma was enjoying himself and was going all out when he danced along to the choreography of the animated girl idol group.

Towards the end of their karaoke session, Miyata’s phone rang. “Oh, it’s my heroine!” his face lit up with a bright smile and he grabbed the phone off the table after wiping his hands on his towel, “Hi Tama-chan! What’s up? Eh? I’m in Akiba. Eh? Now? Uh, okay! I’ll be there.”

When the call ended, Sakuma tilted his head inquiringly, “Mh? Something up?”

“Ah, nothing bad. Tama-chan just said he wants to go and eat with me, so I’ll go to meet him once we’re done here. I hope that’s okay with you, Sakuma-kun?” Miyata looked at his friend.

“You know I’m flexible with time and well, we did just run into each other by chance so it’s not like we had plans together or anything. You go and eat with Tamamori-kun,” Sakuma smiled. He knew how much Miyata liked Tamamori - heck, he still remembered that embarrassing incident when Iwamoto had sent that picture to Miyata’s phone and it had been Tamamori who had answered the email - and he knew how important just spending time together was.

Miyata’s smile was genuine and warm, “We can hang out again soon and make proper plans then. You’re still invited to come over to my place whenever we can fit that in.”

Mock saluting, Sakuma nodded, “I’ll take you up on that. And hey, who knows, we might be working together again soon, so we’ll be able to coordinate our schedules better.” He grinned, wondering when the jimusho would announce the summer schedules for Snow Man.

“That’s right,” Miyata smiled. “I’ll definitely take Snow Man out again if we get to work together. Can’t just let Sen-san and Tama-chan be the cool senpai.”

Sakuma laughed heartily. “I’ll tell the others that you said that. Be aware though, Snow Man won’t ever forget promises. Especially when it comes to food.”

The two finished up and then walked to the train station.

Sakuma waved his goodbye to Miyata and was about to make his way over to the subway station when a hand was clamped over his mouth to keep him from screaming and an arm wrapped itself around his waist, pulling him against a warm body.

“Boo,” a voice whispered close to his ear and almost had Sakuma jumping out of his skin. If it hadn’t been for the fact that he’d recognize the voice - and maybe the feel of the body against his own - he would have probably head-butted the other and make a run for it.

“You almost gave me a heart attack!” he whined and pushed the other’s hand down before looking up to see a black mask blocking his view. So he pulled away and turned around to get a better look at the other male. “Hikaru!”

“Sorry, couldn’t resist,” Iwamoto apologized and Sakuma could tell by the way the other’s eyes were crinkling up that Iwamoto had to be grinning. “I knew I’d find you here.”

That made Sakuma blink, “Eh? What do you mean?”

“It’s our day off and I felt like seeing you,” Iwamoto admitted. “I knew you’d be here so instead of calling you and possibly interrupting you, I thought I’d just come and find you.”

Laughing, Sakuma commented, “You could’ve still interrupted me but Miyata-kun just left.”

“I saw that. So I guess I’m lucky?” Iwamoto shrugged.

“You’re such a star already,” Sakuma chided and then asked, “Well, since you’re here, want to come with me for a bit? Or should we go and eat first?”

“I had a late lunch, so I’m still good for a while,” Iwamoto shook his head. “I’ll come with you.”

Smiling, Sakuma nodded, “This way then!”

He led Iwamoto down the streets of Akihabara and then to a mid-sized department store nestled in between electronics shops. They walked inside, through what looked like a maze of shops, until they got to an elevator. Sakuma closed the door and then pressed a button to go up a couple of floors. When the doors of the elevator opened again, they were greeted by a group of maids, lined up to their left and right.

“Master Sakuma! Hello! It’s been a while since you’ve been here!” the maids’ faces had lit up with recognition immediately and greeted him by the door. Some eyed his companion with interest and amusement. “What’s the secret code?”

“Mero Mero Nyararan Nico Nico!” Sakuma did a little dance that involved forming a heart-shape with his hands, followed by cat ears and then a sideways peace-sign.

“Alright! Come with me!” one of the maids smiled and then led them into the cafe. They weren’t led to a table inside the cafe though but past them and towards a place in the back that had private rooms. And it wasn’t just a simple private room - there was a large plush couch, a big flatscreen TV and a karaoke machine and behind a glass-wall was a bathroom with a medium sized jacuzzi that had color changing lights. Iwamoto raised an eyebrow at Sakuma once they were inside one and Sakuma had locked the door behind them.

“What’s this, Sakkun?”

“Mh?” hummed and Sakuma grinned, “The perks of knowing people around here.” He said and flopped down onto the couch. “This maid cafe is small and located inside a building with lots of other stuff. You walk in here, you could have gone to any of the other shops or cafes inside. The maid cafe has its own floor though, despite being so low key, so the elevator leads straight into it - as opposed to the other floors where you get off in a hallway which connects to the other stuff.” His grin softened into a smile.

“Nobody will find out where you went if they follow you and everyone here keeps quiet about things. We were never here. For all any pursuers would have known, we could have gotten off at a different level and gone to the parking garage behind the building or just passed through. So this is the highest level of privacy I can offer you.” Sakuma looked up at Iwamoto and stuck out his tongue playfully. “And this is how we otaku do parties.”

“Who are you and what did you do to my Sakkun?” Iwamoto demanded as he lowered himself down to straddle the other and pin him down onto the couch. “This is too well thought out.”

“It just pays off to come here all the time and thus get to know the right people,” Sakuma grinned and then made a soft noise when Iwamoto kissed his neck. “And well, you came all the way here, so I thought I’d show off just a little bit for once.”

“You sure were successful with that,” Iwamoto murmured. “Do we have a time limit?”

Sakuma looked at his watch. “Three hours.”

“That’ll be more than enough.”

A/N: Karaoke rooms with a jacuzzi really exist in Japan. Nope am not kidding.
