Joji has gotten me to watch Kyoukai no Katana and it's amazing and great so have an AU thing.
Yes, Fujigaya is aware that he is supposed to be an expert on picking out and tracking demons. Yes, he is aware that his family has been doing this for generations and thus making them the oldest and strongest family associated to Spirit Warriors. And yes, he also is aware that he is not the greatest Spirit Warrior roaming the streets of Tokyo. He does not need it rubbed in his face, thank you.
His mother sighs, looking dejected as he comes through the door yet again without a Demon Stone. "Taisuke," she chides, though she'll never call it that. "I thought you said you could handle it."
Fujigaya mumbles under his breath, and slips his shoes off. "It out smarted me," he says finally, in a normal tone of voice. "Got away."
She sighs again, turning farther into the house. "You know the Spirit Warriors Guild is sending someone in a few weeks, you cannot afford to fail now."
He bites his tongue, holding back a snarky remark. "Yeah, I know."
"I just want you to be able to take care of yourself, Taisuke," she says. She always says this, and it's starting to sound less like a mother's care and more like an obligation. "You know that, right?"
Fujigaya smiles faintly at his mother and nods. "I'm going to bed." He turns without another word, and heads up to his room, closing the door quietly behind him.
Sometimes, Fujigaya wishes he wasn't from a family of Spirit Warriors. Sometimes, he wishes he was normal.
