[team one] big boys don't cry

FINALLY THE TIMING WORKS IN MY FAVOUR YAY \XD/ This isn't the yararyo that I said I would continue some weeks ago :x I have Gamushara team Mu feelings okay :<

~

"All of our efforts, and we still couldn't win," Hayashi Ren mourned, turning instinctively toward Fu in his search for Reassuring Senpai. He didn't want to cry, not again, not again-again, but it felt a little desperate to have been so battered and worn out, and for two of his senpai to have even got unwell, and for all of their sweat and bruises and tears to have been for nothing.

Fu rested one hand on Ren's shoulder, then pulled him closer and folded his arms around Ren's head and back as he gave the thirteen-year-old a hug. "We had fun though, right?" he said. "And everybody did their best."

"Yeah, but..." Ren felt his throat tightening and he knew that tears weren't very far off. "Why didn't we win? Everyone worked so hard, and Leader defeated the backflip, and..." He grabbed the material of Fu's shirt in his fists. "Did we make too many mistakes? Is it my fault for slowing you down?"

"Renren." Fu held onto Ren's shoulders and dropped down to his knees, closer to Ren's level. "Hey, listen. That kind of thinking doesn't help." Ren's misery added to Fu's own sense of defeat made speaking in a calm voice a significant challenge. "Everyone did a really good job. It was hard, wasn't it?" - Ren nodded, and Fu continued - "But still we managed to make a really good performance, and even beat other teams sometimes! That's not bad for a first try, right?"

"...I guess," Ren nodded reluctantly. "And it was fun to work with everyone. And to be on Leader's team."

Fu gave Ren's shoulders a reassuring shake. "There you go," he said. "And you definitely got more fans in the process, too." He grinned his big-brother smile, mouth wide and eyes soft at the edges. "So don't go feeling sad, okay? Don't let Iwahashi-kun feel even more guilty."

Ren scrubbed at his reddened eyes with the back of his hand. "M'kay," he nodded. "Leader really tried hard for us too," he said.

Fu nodded. "C'mon then," he said, getting back to his feet, somehow feeling a little better by proxy. "Let's go find the others again. You ready?"

"Nn." Ren inhaled, exhaled, and stood a little straighter. "Ready."

So sweet ;___; Fu is such a good senpai, and I'm really glad he was there for everyone, and especially Hayashi. I hope that they actually did have this conversation, and that they're feeling a little better today. ;__; This was really touching!
