Joji, where's my catboy tag :P
One of the... various catboy AUs I possess XD But not the one I've posted here before! (This one is more like pseudo-incest bc Suho's parents take Tao in when they're both kids, but they're kind of technically not siblings either and they have an angsty high school romance thing. Lol, I doubt I'll ever finish this one either XD;;)
IT ALSO JUST DIDN'T WANT TO END PROPER, BUT WHATEVER.

A timid little smile is all Junmyeon can coax out of Zitao that first week. At the time, he thinks it’s because Zitao is shy. Belatedly, he realizes that it’s because Zitao literally can’t understand half the things he’s trying to say, but traces of that first impression have stuck for a while.
Years later, he’s hard pressed to figure out why he thought that, watching as Zitao turns the entire school into a cooing mess on his first day with his sunshine smiles and shameless flirting, ears twitching in an obvious preen.
“So insufferable,” Chanyeol snorts in amusement as he watches a flock of girls admiring Zitao’s eyeliner, no doubt also asking what conditioner he used for his tail. “I knew this was going to happen. Are you regretting it already?”
Laughing, Junmyeon shakes his head. In truth, Zitao had actually offered to attend a different school in the name of allowing Junmyeon to attend his final year without all the hubbub that would inevitably follow him – most of the general populace did not know that a hybrid ward lived with Junmyon - but Junmyeon had quickly turned him down. Too many mutual friends (he’s pretty sure Baekhyun would behead him for trying to separate him from his Beef Baby) and it seemed cruel to deny Zitao the chance to enter high school with Sehun and Jongin.
“God, I’m starving,” Sehun grumbles as he joins the group, Jongin trailing behind him. “Someone go retrieve Tao, he’s got my lunch in his bag.”
“Aw, but look at him,” Baekhyun snerks. “They’re about to drown him in lipstick.”
“I’ll get him!” Jongdae volunteers, and Junmyeon shoots to his feet, because while he loves his best friend with all his heart, he knows that this was a Very Bad Idea.
“I’ll get him,” he says, pushing Jondgae back down on the bench and making his way to Zitao. Zitao seemed so content to just bask in all the attention that people were giving him, that he didn’t even notice Junmyeon approaching until he was tugging on his arm. “C’mon, Tao. Everyone’s waiting for you.”
“Ehhhh?” said one of the girls in surprise. “You already know Junmyeon?”
Zitao giggles as he stands up, shouldering his bag and tucking himself up against Junmyeon’s side (which should look ridiculous, because Zitao’s been taller than Junmyeon since last year, but is actually rather adorable). “Of course I do. Junmyeon’s kind of my brother.”
(It’s amusing, watching Zitao use all of this bright-eyed innocence when Junmyeon has seen him act like the spawn of Satan.)
Bidding his new friends (fans?) farewell, he follows Junmyeon back to their friends, Kyungsoo and Yixing having finally arrived as well. Zitao does eventually unlatch himself from Junmyeon, pushing himself between Jongin and Sehun like the overgrown lap-cat he was.
“You’re too heavy!” Jongin complains, shoving him over. A small scuffle ensues, the older boys watching as the three freshmen battle for elbow room (and tail room). Zitao looks miffed when he’s shifted over to Baekhyun, but purrs as soon as Baekhyun touches his ears.
“It’s going to be a good year,” Minseok laughed. “We’re going to be lucky to graduate without the school blowing up.”
“Yeah,” Jongdae agreed. “But babe, that has less to do with those angst ridden balls of hormone and more to do with your boyfriend’s track record in chemistry.”
“Hey!”
Everyone burst out laughing as Lu Han tried to lunge across the table at Jongdae to bludgeon him with a spork and nearly speared Jongin instead, the resulting chaos (Jongin having fallen onto Zitao’s tail and the hybrid having clawed over Baekhyun in an attempt at safety) nearly deafening bystanders. Instead of stepping in like he should, Junmyeon just watched, cheering Jongdae on as he flung a jelly at Lu Han in defense.
Zitao had wormed his way over and claimed Junmyeon’s lap in an instant. “Geeeeee, Jongin hurt my tail,” he complained, flopping over onto Junmyeon’s shoulder in an overdramatic display of agony.
Ruffling Zitao’s hair, he smiled down at him. “That’s what you get for stealing his shoes on the playground.”
Zitao rolled his eyes but smiled, quieting down. He’d try to nap, Junmyeon knew, and they didn’t have time for that, but he didn’t have the heart to move him just yet.
Minseok was right, though.
It was going to be a great year.
