[Team Three] One More Night
Last post before the shuffle! I've been on a Yamajima kick since Friday;;
What just transpired, Yamada has no idea, except for the fact that his heart is beating so fast it’s uncomfortable. He’s rooted to the ground, lips still tingling long after the other boy has gone and slammed the door behind him.
He should have grabbed his arm when he turned to leave. He should have kissed him back with just as much force at the very first press of Yuto’s lips against his. Instead Yamada had done nothing but stand there, watching Yuto’s face turn stricken as he spun on his heel and hadn’t looked back.
Yamada knows it could never work between them. He thinks a part of him has always known that. They have too much history between, too many scars that remain from careless actions and harsh words. Last year they hashed it out and they’ve forgiven each other, but forgiving is not enough. He’d thought it was, but then during rehearsal break one afternoon the same jealousy and bitterness stirred up in him; he’d had to run out to splash water on his face and slap some sense back into himself.
Still, Yamada hadn’t given up. He’s naive, and he’d hoped. But as time went on, things only became more clear that neither of them would ever be able to forget.
It didn’t stop him from yearning, though. It doesn’t stop him from following now. His feet take him on the same path Yuto took, and it’s only when Yamada reaches the door that he doesn’t remember which room Yuto is staying in tonight. His hand shoots out to turn the door knob and he decides he will guess and hope for the best. Upon exiting his room Yamada takes a sharp right and knocks into someone. Knocks into Yuto, who’s leaning against the wall almost right in front of the door. He grabs hold of Yamada just before he falls despite looking as though he wants to cry.
Yamada stablises himself, but still Yuto doesn’t let go.
Yamada supposes that just for one more night, they can continue to pretend.
