i'm terrified i'll run out of time again so i'll just post this snippet first!

“Father,” Jongdae greets, his jaw tight when he hears his dad’s cheery hey, pup at the other end of the line.
There’s a bout of silence, then a burst of laughter comes from Jongin followed by an oh my God from Jonghyun in the background. Jongdae hates his family, hates that they’re all werewolves with ridiculous hearing which means that everyone can hear even his calls (and he can hear their responses) without it being put on the speakerphone.
“Did you just call me father, Jongdae?” His dad asks, sounding amused. Jongdae stiffens. WE CAN’T DO THISSSSSSSS his wolf whines, flattening its ears and attempting to hide its face in its paws, and it only makes Jongdae freak out even more.
“Yeah. I, uh,” Jongdae swallows. “I don’t know how to say this.”
Fifty thousand won it’s about Liyin Jongdeok says in the background. Jongin snorts.
“Is this about Liyin?” His dad asks, because he is, after all, the twins’ father too. They had to get their lack of tact from somewhere. For all his family knows, Jongdae could be wanting to ask for money, or tell them that he was about to drop out of college. Why must they always think that everything in his life revolves around Liyin?
LIYIN IS OUR MATE YOU INGRATE. OF COURSE OUR LIFE REVOLVES AROUND HER his wolf snarls. Jongdae gives up.
“Yeah, it is,” he tells his dad. He takes a deep breath, then, “dad, I need your blessing to Court her.”
It’s chaos on the other end. His brothers are yelling, and even his mum is joining in the ruckus. Jongdae’s dad somehow manages to get them all to keep quiet while Jongdae tries his best not to implode or explode because of his family.
“Oh, pup,” he croons. “Of course you get my blessing. Why don’t you bring her around the next full moon? We can have a nice run like we used to when you pups were younger. Jongwoon and Ryeowook will be there too.”
Jongdae thinks of his family’s full moon runs, held in the big backyard they shared with his father’s siblings. There’d be a big poolside barbecue with lots of food and fun, after which the wolves would shift for a run in the woods when the moon is at its peak, and the humans could choose between running along or continuing with the party.
There’s no doubt that Liyin would love being in the woods. It would be far bigger than the one near campus that they usually take walks in. But there’s only one problem.
“You have to promise me you won’t scare her.” Jongdae addresses this to his entire family. “No cornering her, no asking her weird questions or showing her weird things.”
Weird things? Jongdeok repeats in the background. Like your puppy pictures?
Oh, those were so cute his mum chimes in, and there is a distinct sound of rustling.
“Ah, mum!” Jongdae whines. He hears her laugh, and Jonghyun’s cooing at what would be their family album, and gives up.
this was for the very lovely jiin who graciously prompted me to write "liyin meeting jongdae's family"!! the rest will come soon! very soon. ehehehe.

Also shout out to Jongdae's wolf for always being so excited that it capslock yells at him. I adore it.
I just cannot get enough of this au ever. You just have a way of writing the setting of it all with such an endearing warmth.
