[Team Five] Not enough
This is short, not happy, it is about what's gone down in the past week or so, and I'm sorry, but it is what it is.
"Wait!" Sehun says, grabbing Tao by his elbow and digging his fingers as deep as he can. Tao has a huge suitcase out the door, and a bag over his shoulder. His shoes are on already, and his dad is waiting just outside the dorm, door half open.
"Do you really have to go?" Sehun asks. He doesn't care how desperate he sounds right now. This doesn't feel right.
Tao glances at his dad, and Sehun follows his eyes to the thin line of his mouth, shoulders squared. Sehun thinks, not for the first time, that Tao looks much more like his mom.
"I'll call you," Tao says, eyes returning to Sehun.
"When are you coming back?" Sehun asks. He knows how he sounds, he knows he's making it difficult for Tao. Don't go, he pleads with his eyes.
"Tao, we have to go now," Tao's dad says, clearly and slowly, for Sehun to hear and understand, just like when he used to explain about food or why Sehun needed to dress warmly when Sehun came to visit. Only he doesn't look at Sehun any more.
Tao squeezes Sehun's shoulder tightly. There's no good bye hug, no good bye kiss. Sehun did cling last night. He wishes that was enough.
There are no phone calls. Sehun does his best to promote, to do as well as he possibly can every time he sings the one line that should have been Tao's.
A week later, he gets an email.
Sehunnie, it starts.
Thank you for always taking care of me. You always did, you know, you took great care of me.
As Sehun reads the message over and over again, he wonders why, once again, that wasn't enough.
