[Team Five] 'I love you'

... well at least I'm posting on time 8DDDD;; I meant to have like an actual storyline, but it didn't happen and the stylizing fell apart, whoops.



“I love you,” Yifan says, and Zitao believes him. He’s young and reckless and when Yifan holds his hand, it feels like the world is between their twined fingers. Yifan’s his fire, his breath, his blood, and later, when they kiss for the first time, Zitao feels like he’s found forever.

Later, Yifan leaves without saying goodbye and Zitao realizes that forever isn’t real.

“I love you,” Junmyeon says, and Zitao believes him. They’re older now, and wiser. Junmyeon’s always been a safe place for Zitao, someone who’s always been warm and affectionate, and this, Zitao thinks as they curl up together on the couch, legs tangled and eyes closing, must be what love really is.

Junmyeon breaks up with him two weeks later and Zitao thinks love is stupid.

“I love you,” Chanyeol says, and at least this time, Zitao knows that’s a lie. They’ve come together with mutual baggage, and it’s all a whirlwind of selfish, biting need. Chanyeol says he’s in love because Chanyeol dreams of love, but Zitao is just looking to feel numb.

Still, when Chanyeol quietly begins drifting towards Jongin, eyes hopeful and heart open, Zitao feels a familiar ache.

“I don’t love you,” Sehun says, and Zitao nearly cries with relief.

He doesn’t want love. He just doesn’t want to be alone anymore.
