[Team Two] just trying to get out, you and me
It's a new round! \o/ Hi to all Team Two members.
Defaulted to my boarding school au yet again. And I just realised it's been months since I last posted fic here. >_>
It’s not the moments where they fight that Yamada hates the most, of the times when Yuto ignores him in favour of his hobbies or other people - at least during these times, Yamada knows he’s happy or engrossed; that he’s feeling something, even if it’s not with him. It’s when Yuto falls off the radar completely that Yamada can’t stand: when he stops answering his messages, doesn’t come down for meals or for class,
The first time it happens, Yamada doesn’t really think much of it. Yuto already warned him not to expect instant replies, about his abrupt mood swings, the way his attention will hone in on one thing at a time. Yamada doesn’t care about those things; at least, he tries to tell himself he doesn’t, so he gives Yuto the space he always said he needed.
But then, after almost a week of fretting in which Yamada engages in a furious battle with himself to see or not see Yuto, the Yuto who finally makes an appearance is thinner and paler, who knew that was even possible, is surly and snappish when spoken to, barely touches anything on his plate.
It’s far from the first time now; Yamada’s long ceased standing on the sidelines.
Yuto isn’t answering his door when he knocks, or more like pounds on it angrily. But he hasn’t been roommates with Chinen Yuri without picking up a few tricks, and it’s not long before he’s got the door opened without a sound, trying not to acknowledge how desensitised he’s become to this particular brand of rule breaking.
The sound of the shower stopping explains why the door wasn’t answered, and it’s not long before the bathroom door is squeaking open to reveal Yuto, wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his bottom half. There’s another towel in his hands, too, but he stops drying his hair when he spots Yamada standing there, expression void of emotion.
There’s a number of things Yamada could think of to say to him right at this very moment, and he opens his mouth to do just that, before he stops, and closes his eyes. It hits him that he’s seeing Yuto for the first time in weeks. There’s time for that later, probably. For now, Yamada opens his eyes and crosses the room, so he can take the towel from Yuto’s hand and finish the job himself.
mizerablyme, your turn!

I haven't read any yamajima fics in a while, but I really like how you wrote their interactions (or lack of XD) it's more mature and different from the usual cute-sy stuff. I'm dying to know what's up with Yuto :o
