A/N: helloooo lol staying true to myself by being late even on my first turn OTL have a super quick jwest au thing?

”Saying nothing sometimes says the most” had been one of the phrases Hamada’s mom had liked to throw around, but unlike most of the other favorite phrases this one had actually proven to be of use in her son’s life too.

Shige refused to go look for a job and instead fought (or flirted, really) with the neighbor through their window for hours instead?

Telling him to do what he’d been told to do would just piss him off and there would be no positive outcome at all. Hamada chose to not say anything and believe in Shige – he’d go and find a job when he felt like it was the time.

Kami-chan disappeared somewhere again without telling anyone where he’d gone and then showed up in the middle of the night?

Why waste time and energy in fighting when Kami-chan would surely get more co-operative with time. Fighting would just make everybody feel bad, so it was wiser to not say anything.

Ryusei didn’t say a word to anyone for a week, only came downstairs to get food and smoked non-stop in his room?

There would be no point in trying to fight him into speaking more, he’d just disappear back into his room and then they wouldn’t see him for days. If they just acted like everything was fine he’d feel more comfortable and start talking sooner, Hamada was sure.

Kotaki bringing home total strangers and then thinking he could get away with everything just by giving Hamada a hug and a wink on the next morning?

Kotaki was young and adventurous, trying to tame him too early on would just make him rebel more and there would be all kinds of problems. In this case, too, it was better to believe in the wise words of Mrs. Hamada.

“You do know you’re just running away from all these conversation you’ll have to have at some point, right?” Junta asked when Hamada tried to tell him about his genius parenting strategy.
