[Team SONIC] Devil (or Angel?)
Starting word from here.
Her mouth opened, and closed again without a single syllable being spoken, the frown on her face deepening as she fought hard to understand what was happening around her.
He shook his head though, before looking away from the scene. That was enough of a warning for her: leave it alone, don't even think of interfering.
She heaved a sigh but did as he had silently requested, and she stepped away from the gathering crowd. Once she was a safe distance away from curious eyes, half-hidden in the lengthening shadows of an alleyway, she closed her eyes and concentrated as hard as she could to unfurl the wings on her back that she had tucked away.
Her focus was cut short, though, her mind flashing up images of the scene she had just witnessed, the corpses she had just seen, and she gasped as she returned to reality as though she had just broken to the surface of a pool of water.
"That is not like you at all," commented a disapproving voice from behind her. She didn't need to turn around to know that her babysitter had arrived — had probably been waiting there since before she had arrived. She wouldn't put it past him, to be honest: for a Guardian, he could be as sneaky and slipper as a Slayer. He certainly had a habit of showing up unexpectedly, even when he was expected.
"I really don't need this right now," she snapped back, gazing into the distance as she slowly gathered back her concentration. "We have a job to do now, and if you're not going to be helpful, at least shut up so I can do my part."
She could feel him roll his eyes at her, but to his credit, he complied with her request, not making a sound as she tried again to unfurl her wings.
This time, she succeeded.
