On the fourteenth day of February, an announcement was published in the columns of the most fashionable gossip rag that had Society all a-flutter.
It read as followed:
It was an announcement that surprised a great many people, but Miss Ara Go was not one of those people, who could only laugh with delight when her mother complained most loudly about the match.
"Why, I declare I have never seen a more uneven match than this," declared Mrs Go, stabbing her fork into the slice of meat she had just cut up. Her voice softened a little as she continued, "But I suppose if Society is to lose one of its most eligible bachelors, better to your friend than to any of those fawning, fortune hunting debutantes that must surely have been following the Kim heir around. I shudder to think—"
"I am very happy Liyin has found happiness," Ara said plainly. "It has been long overdue."
"It has indeed," agreed Mr Go, who knew the particulars of Liyin's past relations from Ara. He raised his glass, an action quickly copied by his wife and daughter, and said, "To the newlyweds, Mr and Mrs Jongdae Kim."
"To Liyin!"
It read as followed:
Yesterday, Jongdae Kim was married to Miss Liyin Zhang. The groom is the heir of the Siheung Kims and the bride is the niece and particular favourite of the famous Ms Nara Jang. Their wedding was held in the parlour of the beautiful Zhang family townhouse and was attended by only the most intimate of family and friends, a number rumoured to be no more than two dozen at most. After the reception held in the same house, the bride and groom departed for a honeymoon at an undisclosed location. Many felicitations to the happy couple!
