[team one] is it a feeling
This past week I've been slightly obsessed with the drama Sassy Go Go and I have too many Hajoon/Yeondoo/Yeol feelings to not write them out since it was my turn anyway! This was just a word vomit of about an hour, so I don't know, maybe it's just a draft for something longer I could write? If I still have these feelings once I finish the drama lol.
Yeol smiles widely whenever he looks at Yeondoo. It's impossible to miss, now that he knows for sure.
It's strange, how Hajoon got tangled up in this. Things used to be simple: him and Yeol, and the rest. Then Kang Yeondoo came into the picture and suddenly she was everywhere. In the cafeteria, in the cheer leading club, in the hospital when Yeol and Hajoon were there. Inexplicably, she was always there. Hajoon started to grow interested in her, because she cared about him, was nice to him, smiled at him. He didn't realize, then, that his best friend was falling too. And Yeondoo was falling as well. And Hajoon was on the sidelines.
It's after seeing them kissing in the hospital room, that he truly saw it. Yeol and Yeondoo, together. He couldn't even deny that they were good for each other, couldn't truly hate the sight.
But where does he fit in? Does he even fit in? He's still in love with Yeondoo. Still Yeol's best friend, though he has been wary of using that term recently. Yeol has that smile reserved only for Yeondoo, he knows. Somehow Hajoon wants to see that smile directed at him.
They have something special, too. Yeol is the only person Hajoon ever goes to during trying times. And Yeol is always there, no matter what. Always there to help patch up his wounds, to wipe away his tears, to scold him when he does something he shouldn't have. Hajoon's heart will pick up it's pace ever so slightly whenever his friend gives him his own special smile. It's filled with love, too, even if it's maybe not the kind of love he is looking for. Maybe that's all he can ask for.
Yet, when he sees them together now, he looks at them both and can't decide who he is jealous of. Yeol, for dating Yeondoo, or Yeondoo, for dating Yeol? And isn't that strange, that he has these feelings about two different people who are both important to him? When did his sleepless nights become not only about Yeondoo dating his best friend, but also about Yeol dating Yeondoo? How is it that he can't bear imagining them being apart, but also can't bear imagining them together without him?
It's the strangest thing, to be feeling this way, and at one point Hajoon sees them sitting close together in the club room after practice, and he enters the room. They're just muttering quietly, but they stop when they see him, and he almost wonders if they're conspiring about something, because they both suddenly smile very widely at him. He hasn't experienced this before.
"Hajoon," Yeol exclaims, his eyes crinkling that way they do when his smile is unmistakably real. "Where have you been? We were just talking about going to find you."
Hajoon scoffs. "Sure. No need to pity me or anything because I'm not hanging out with anyone. I didn't mean to disturb your lovey-dovey time," he mumbles. That's kind of a lie, because he wanted to talk to them, but seeing them together he suddenly wants to chicken out and leave to bury himself in his studies. At least his father would be pleased.
"Pity?" says Yeondoo, scandalized. "We want to spend time with you! We're a trio! A trio isn't a trio without three people, you know. And you're our person. Don't try to get away from this." She gets up, leaving Yeol sitting by the wall on his own, and crosses the room to grab Hajoon by the hand. Dragging him with her back to her boyfriend, she sits back down and gestures for him to do so too. Hajoon may be unsure about a lot of things, but he knows to obey Kang Yeondoo, so he does it. Yet again, she leaves him speechless and confused.
"But--" he breaks off. But what? What is he trying to say? That he wants a real relationship? And does he really, just yet? He doesn't know what it entails being in a real relationship with one person, and certainly not two. He also doesn't know if they would want that, or if they know how he feels, or if they feel the same about him. Surely, they can't.
But Yeondoo sprawls over both of their laps, watching him with a smile that fills him with joy, and it's a feeling he has felt very rarely in the duration of his life. And Yeol plays with Yeondoo's hair, and reaches his free hand out to play with Hajoon's fingers. Hajoon never realized how touchy the guy was, but he doesn't mind at all.
"But what?" Yeondoo asks curiously.
"I-- it can wait," Hajoon says.
Figuring it all out will take time. It can wait, for now.
cairistiona your turn!
